Does the fact that it has speakers in the bed mean it's designed more as a beach/camping toy or a tailgate party vehicle then a real truck? Just wondering...

I like the bed speakers but I sure some neighborhoods won't when somebody's teenager takes it out and comes home @ 3 AM blasting away with it.Question as to how rugged the 2 way tail gate will be.

    they claim tailgating.
if you notice the trucks clearance must be horrible.
it can not clear the short grass when he drives in the commercial.
they claim their target demographic is going to be the mall hopper, tail-gater, running to home depot around the city crowd.
with the overly low front end, they have abandoned the market of outdoorsman/off roaders/rancher.
But what is interesting, every advertisement they have is showing an outdoor life style with a rancher or off roading.

I'd say that the softly-sprung coil spring rear suspension is more indicative of that...

Honestly I don't think Honda cares if 'real truck' guys don't think it's a truck. We're not their target audience anyway.

Because it's going to be sold in competition to the 3rd gen Tacomas?

I think it's Hondas attempted to grab it's share of the mid size struck market of which the Tacoma 3rd Gen is king

For many people just having an AWD vehicle with some sort of bed for carrying stuff is all they need. Why don't people understand that? I am sure some of the same people who criticize the Honda as not being a real truck are also part of the small penis brigade that lift their Tacoma and put their AWG (attention whore grill) on and never go Off-road with their truck.
Meanwhile Honda makes a bunch of money..

Well not everyone who owns or buys a Tacoma pickup goes hard core off road. Many of us use the Tacoma as an everyday driver. Yes, it is used to go to malls, home depot and other shopping. The Tacoma is also used to get us to fishing spots, skiing, hiking trail heads camping or sight seeing down some public land road.

That said, I would prefer a better ride (since most of what I do is on paved roads). I don't need all of the performance a Tacoma has in off road capibilities. The new Ridgeline may in fact be better fit for me.

Seems many posters have stated many issues with the new Tacoma. That is one reason I have held off it purchasing one. I loved my 06 Tacoma.
But I am older now and needs change. Honda with the RL will never be a major threat to Toyota. It may fit some users better than a Tacoma.
All depends on quality and price.

I'll be test driving one...I don't give a shit who else likes it or not. I don't make my decisions based purely on aesthetics or crowd following....Thankfully my mind is very open....Wasn't always that way.

Live from the inside out....Be your own person..it works best, even if one has to learn later in life. It is empowering not to care what other's consider "good taste"
