One of the beautiful things about this site is the free exchange of ideas with minimal judgements on the choices others make.

Sorry to hear you are unsettled by this but at least you got to have your say.

Yes, but if you read carefully I made no judgement about people's choices. I simply want people to have the right information. A stiff front end is not a substitute for a sway bar.

It doesn't bother me if people remove them. I just want people to make that decision with the right information.

    Hmm, ignorant reply.
If you have a Tacoma or a truck for that matter, let's see what you have.
Doubt you have suspension up-grades at all, or your reply would not have been what it was.

Sway bar acts more as a torsional spring than anything. The 620lb coils are so much beefier it almost makes up for its absence.

What does my truck have to do with whether or not a there's a difference between coils over the wheel and a sway bar? What I'm saying is not controversial, people just seem to be making it out to be. This isn't a Tacoma thing or even a truck thing, but if it makes you feel better: http://imgur.com/7OKXa4v

Just your typical 5100s all around and a 1.5" progressive AAL pack in the back.

(I wish it would rain more, I might forget that the clear-coat on that front fender is almost completely chipped away.)

It is a torsional spring, but it acts in a way that coils themselves aren't capable of imitating with a higher spring rate.

I don't see why this is controversial. If people want to make this decision that's fine, but they should be making informed decisions. It's not like these guys are doing the math on whether or not a 620 spring has enough tension to prevent a rollover at high speed, they're just saying, "I mean, it feels OK to me." We're talking about a taking out a safety feature that is put in every car on the road, I just wanted to make sure that people understood the choices they're making. You can't replace a sway bar with higher rate coils, but you can improve the lack of a sway bar with higher rate coils. Whether or not that improvement is enough to prevent a roll-over has yet to be demonstrated as far as I'm concerned.

I was considering taking mine out, but I'm just on Bilstein 5100s up front with preloaded stock springs, and I drive my daughter to her grandmother's house every morning on the interstate. The risk vs reward for me is a simple calculation -- no way in hell.

Somebody should test and compare the amount of body roll

Time to get a few first gens and try rolling them with and without a sway bar
