I have a really simplistic question so forgive my lack of specific knowledge; My truck came from the Dealer with BFG All-Terrain T/As installed in size 275/70R 16. When they finally do wear out, I am seriously considering the KO2 as replacement, as I don't do much heavy off-roading and I like my current tires, so I don't need a really radical off-road type tire.
My question is this; I want to go back to the stock size, which I think is 265/70R 16. What basic differences should I notice, other then the truck sitting a slight bit lower? Differences in mileage, things like that??

Yeah, it will be a little shorter and it will change what your speedometer reads now. But it will be a little quicker off the line. What it will do for your MPGs is debateable.

How accurate is your speedo now? Have you compared it to what a GPS app shows for speed?

Actually, I haven't done the speedo comparison using my little Garmin. I'll try it the next time I go to town and see how they compare. I've never really done a serious MPG check, since I'm in and out of the woods, gravel roads, twisting mountain roads and the like. Next time I take a road trip to Knoxville, I'll see what the highway mileage is then check my local mileage.

I got 285 ko2's and love them. I had to do a little bit of trimming in the front (all plastic) and removed the front flaps... I have been a couple of times off-roading and had not have any issues.

Bought 265/75r16 KO2s about 3k miles before I installed my 3" OME lift... Figured I'd wear them until they died and then bump up to 285s. Ended up getting on the $100 off $400 Discount Tire purchase and went ahead with 285s... 265s looked ok with the 3" lift but the 285s fill up the wheel well and look soooo much better. Weight between the 265 and 285s were only 4 or 5 lbs per tire, if I'm not mistaken.

They probably dropped it by an mpg or so... Hard to tell because my fuel economy has always been pretty bad - Heavy wheels, heavy foot, and a camper top pretty much since the first couple of tanks. I also tow a 3500 lb boat around the hills up here a few times a month. And also with the 285s, I think the odometer is actually reading less than I've actually covered.

What's the "box" in chop n box? I'm already planning on doing the CMC. Wasn't sure what else was normal to trim.

You guys think it would be too much of an issue to jam these 34x10.50's under a 2" lift with lots of trimming? They seem to be a far cry from a true 34", and they're still pretty skinny. I could also crank up the 6112's another notch too.

    TRD SEMA wheels.

Lift height doesn't matter unless you modify the bumps to stop up travel. The wheel will still move through the same range of motion as stock suspension. Only thing a lift does is change the static height of the suspension. There might even be less trimming with the 34x10.5.

You'll probably have to trim/roll the pinch weld, mudflaps, possibly cab mount depending on castor.

Just got home from a trip to town. On a fairly straight stretch of road, keeping the speedo as close to 55 as I could, my Garmin Etrex was showing a speed of 54.7 to 55.2. My speedo seems to be pretty darn close, even with the 275/70R 16 tires.

As I understand the rules, for federal certification, the speedo can read high (actual speed slower that the readout) but cannot read low (actual speed higher than the readout) without incurring a fine for the manufacturer. The rules actually allow a manufacturer a 5% error range.

Toyota typically undervalues their steedo by as much as 5% to ensure they don't get fined. I have seen and discussed this speedo error on many 1st gens and it sounds like it continues on 2nd gens and presumably on their entire product lines.

By having larger than stock tires, you have actually made your speedo more accurate, as indicated by the GPS.

My first couple of days with the KO2s have been good. The shop pumped them to 40psi so I tried that first. The ride was actually pretty responsive and felt good, not harsh. The only thing I noticed was that the front skipped a bit over moderate imperfections in turns on the highway. Not alarming, but definitely a little skittish. They seem well planted in the wet and I like the handling more than the stock Goodyears for sure.

Today I aired them down to 38psi all around and trying that now. When warmed up, the fronts go up to 41 and rear to 40, so they're still pretty full. I may try 36psi next week to see what that does, but I need to do the chalk test either way. I want a responsive ride, but I also want them to conform to imperfections, especially at speed.

I believe I have asked this before but I found some KO2s for 450. They are jus the tires no rims. The size is 265/70/17 (load C) and my stock dunlops are 265/65/17. Theses BFG are going to fit no problem correct?

I went from 285/75/16 Rugged Terrains to 265/75/16 T/A KO2's and love them.
Gained quite a bit of better gas mileage and quieter ride.
