Smaller calipers for 15" wheels?

Has anybody ever tried to find a smaller caliper for the front brakes so that we can fit 15" wheels to our trucks? Maybe a caliper from a gen 1 truck? Or maybe a aftermarket low profile caliper?

 

Why? You'd be reducing braking effectiveness.

 

I'm not talking 1/2 sized calipers...I'm talking like maybe a couple cm smaller caliper body for more clearance for the 15" wheel.

 

You're still loosing braking effectiveness.... and people complain enough about the 2nd gen brakes as it is.

Why do you NEED to run a 15" wheel?

This will be either a major expense, or result in marginal braking performance. You could actually achieve both results if you do it right.

 

Yeah, anything is possible. Just how much does it cost to make it happen? And - will it suite your needs in all situations that the truck will be in.

Those artic trucks NEED the larger sidewall & balloon'd tires.
