went in with the slight knock from r to drive sounds like a bad u joint, get a call and they say they have a whole new rear diff ordered. A/c cuts off, have a new blower switch ordered, mentioned the squawking rear leafs (5k) on truck, have new leaf springs coming as well. Was told trans level was ok, waiting to hear back if it was manually checked???
Picked truck up today as all parts are ordered and won't be in till next week. If trans symptoms persist, advisor told me that he will make sure the trans level is manually checked. Tech said there was excessive backlash in the ring and pinion, Toyota said replace the complete diff.

The days of Toyota's being "bullet proof" are over. I just have to laugh when the fanboys are raining down on the other brands as not up to Toyota quality.

I can't tell if this post is serious or not. Do you expect every Toyota to be issue-free?

They all have their own problems, no worries here, it's covered by warranty. Just didn't expect them to say a complete rear diff was ordered. They have been on the phone with Toyota all day. It's just a faint lil thud, but they checked it out and that's what they said. Advisor said he has a buddy with an off road like mine that steady gets 20-21 mpg. My best ever has been 16.1 all highway 60-70 mph.

It depends. If he grew up or lives in the New England area, he'd be a "douche bag", as you say, if he weren't a Pats fan. If he has no ties to the area and just picked them because they're a winner, yeah, he's certainly a "douche bag".

I have a theory that cars manufacturers go through this cycle where they start shitty for the budget consumer then they make bullet proof cars to prove them selves. Once they have a good share of the market quality comes down slowly because the shareholders want to increase profits.

Of course it's just a theory by a nobody. I'd imagine doing quality control on such a large volume of cars is difficult. At least Toyota warranty is good and they take care of you to a degree. I'd still rather have a Toyota than an American car.

Any manufacture can and will have problems. Way too many variables. Even hand made exotic cars have issues, and would have a lot more if they had to produce their volume dramatically. Humans make mistakes and so do machines and computers, and the people who control and build those components. Always going to be a few duds out there as well. Remember the old saying to never buy a car built on a Monday? Or a Friday? Their was a bit of truth and logic behind that. Is Toyota perfect? Nope! Are they better than most? I think so

New vehicles can get issues as errors are possible..humans make mistakes / machines make mistakes. It's life.
