Hey everyone, thanks for checking out my build. I wanted a Tacoma since the day my dad bought one when I was just a little boy. Between hunting fishing and camping his old truck did it all. Once I finally got my finances established I picked up my first taco. I found my ideal truck, 3.4l v6 pre runner double cab. This was how it sat the day I bought it
    image.jpg
I was brand new to the truck world so I had no idea where to start but unfortunately when the time came to buy my truck, I chose a pre runner. Only until later on I regretted this decision and wished I had bought a 4x4.
    Current list of mods:

    Engine:
    Volant Cold air intake
    Flow master exhaust

    Armor:
    Cbi diy front bumper kit
    Custom rear bumper

    Wheels & tires:
    Bfg ko2 265 r16
    American outlaw wheels

    Lighting:
    Hella 1500 lumen floods

    Future mods:
    Are camper
    All pro mid travel kit
    Warn 9,000lb wench
    Custom rock sliders
Swing out rear spare tire mount

Stock, the truck came with a brush guard and tonneau cover. But these parts wouldn't fit my ideal build so the tonneau came off and I ordered a cbi diy front bumper and had a custom rear built.
A few pics of my build progress

Nice truck. These always look really good in white. You got a late model too which is always nice. How many miles?

    Nice truck.
It's cool to hear/read the stories on why people choose the trucks that they have. Mine? When I first saw Back to the Future. Since that movie, I have always wanted a Toyota 4x4.

All my life my parents have always had Toyota and preached how nice they are. I started out with a ford and damn that thing made me think twice before buying another pile of junk like that again. I think picking this truck up was the best decision I've made yet

Yeah, man. My first car was an '86 Toyota Corolla. Had an '89 Toyota 2wd truck before getting the '01 Tacoma. The first car I bought my wife was a '95 Tercel back in '95. She moved onto a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage that really served her well for 10 years. She now drives a 2011 Corolla, and loves it. Our oldest daughter drives an '04 Tacoma 2wd. Trying to find our younger one a Rav4.

You can say that we are Toyota family.

It really is. My whole life my dad always told me how well every truck he's had performed. I remember growing up hunting and taking hi 98 Tacoma out on some crazy trails. People who own these vehicles can truly appreciate there value

Just had my cbi diy front bumper welded and put on. Also had a custom rear made and painted my grille to color match. Now all I need is a powder coat and I'll be set. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Subd because I didnt know you had a build. Really like your front bumper.. Debating on making another to run a winch or just put a receiver in the front for a winch.

Edit: How do you like those tires? Thinking that will be my next set..

Thanks man it was a cbi diy and had someone fab it for me. The ko2s are bad ass they've gotten me to some pretty crazy places. Road noise is not bad at all and my dads had some for over 40k miles and they still look almost new

Update on the bumpers, still need a wench..

Also took a trip down to chimney rock in reddington pass. Good trail for a 2wd, although some parts were tough the locker did me well. The trail was beautiful, lots of tall grass and plenty of water from the months previous rain and snow. Definitely a relaxing trail for a nice weekend run.

Sounds good. The generals have a little over 20k and will probably have to replace them latter this year or next.

Pictures look awesome! Does it use the factory skid plates on the front?

Damn I've heard the general wear like crazy if they're not primarily used on dirt.. These ko2s are really nice, tread designs is pretty much the same but they broadened up the shoulder and made it really hard. And yes it does! I've gone back and forth debating buying a new skid but this one works perfect!

They are wearing pretty fast. Even more so since i started doing more trails. Finally starting to chunk. Not a huge fan of them. Especially since i got the "E" rated tires too. Ride is so stiff from them. Will probably be looking for "C" or "D" rated tires next.

Yeah I was considering getting full skids but dont know if it will be worth it. Not doing crazy trails and normally just take my time.

I haven't heard much good about them. Were they pretty pricey? I didn't look into tires much when I bought my ko2s but all I had heard was good things about bfg and they were right. These tires have done really good things for me and last forever

An E rated tire will be heavier than a C rated tire. They are designed with stiffer sidewalls and can hold a higher air pressure. Good for full-size pickups and heavier vehicles.

That being said, plenty of people run E rated tires on our trucks no problem.
