Hello from Arkansas, just picked up an 07 Red double cab long bed sr5 TRD 4wd auto yesterday. I've had it for two days now and so far absolutely love it. It has over 116000 on the clock and from what everyone tells me it's just getting broke in. I found this web sight by looking for some info on the temp/compass being out. While test driving it I noticed there was no info displayed on the screen and asked the salesman about it and he had no idea "said, must be a switch some where that has it off". I'm thinking are you kidding! Well, it was at a Ford dealership so he probably don't know about these rigs. Well I was looking here and found the solution. First thing when I got it home last night was pull and solder the resistor. That info sold me on this place. I have since read all I could on lifts trying to educate myself on what everyone else has used and there experience with them. I'm wanting to go with about 3" high and run slightly bigger tires. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I hope to find time to spend here and learn all I can about these sweet little trucks that could. This is my second Toyota owned, my first was a 1987 4Runner bought in 89. Now that was and has always been my most favorite rig ever owned. I'm now looking forward to this Tacoma. Now anything I need to know or do that makes this a better longer lasting rig? Thanks!!!!

    Welcome to TW !

Arkansas... worst assignment in my 23 year Air Force career. Not that the State sucks but the northeast corner where I was stationed sure did. Little Rock, and the Ozarks.... very nice though.

Ha! Well I bought my 07 from a Toyota dealership and the temp/compass was out as well...salesman told me it was a garage door opener! Haha riiiiight...fixed it up real fast thanks to this site!

Definitely do your research on the lift before buying anything. Be sure to get something that fits your needs. I'd recommend perusing the suspension section of the forum as well as searching. Just use google to search for whatever you want and add "tacomaworld" at the end of it...works very well.

Just as a starter, check out this kit...
    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/headstrong-kits-tacoma-05-6-lug.html
It's a pretty solid kit for light off road use and it's very affordable as well! It's what I ended up getting and I love it!! Again, there are tons of lift options so do your research!

    Anyways, welcome!

    Hello TW!
Bought a 2015 DCSB TRD Sport about 8 months ago. I'm chomping at the bit to start modding. I already have my wheel/tire and lift package all picked out. (TRD PRO FJ wheels or SCS stealth 6, 285/70/17 Toyota AT II, and an Icon 2.5" stage 1 lift and AAL) Now I gotta save up for all that. Is there a good way to do it in parts? It seems to me it all needs to be done at once or it will look really silly.
Anyway in a couple of years when I have saved enough, I'll post the build!

    Happy trails!

Thanks for the warm welcome. This seems to be the right place to learn about these trucks. I'll Try to get a pic loaded up asap I've already started me an upgrade list of mods. A lift is first on my list.

I have the same truck. Looking to get my 3" lift in the front and 2" in the back. Now I'm looking for tires but I don't what I want. I want 285's but don't want to trim any.

image.jpg I think I'm leaning toward the Bilstien 5100 lift kit. Right now I'm running some 265 Kendas. I picked these up for a good price last week.

I want to see what my lift will do then see what size tires to get. I just don't know what to believe because some people say 285's don't rub and some say they do so idk...

285s will almost certainly rub unless you drive in straight line all the time over no bumps. That's said, it is highly dependent on your wheel specs and the tires you select because not all 285s are exactly the same. If you're between 2-3" of lift and you're running 285s, you're probably going to have, at the very least, some minimal rubbing. If you wheel hard you're going to rub a lot and you'll most likely need to do a cmc. If you stick to the pavement you will probably not rub very much and will most likely get by with minimal trimming. It's very specific to your truck, the lift/wheels/tires you choose and the intended use of the truck.

One thing is certain though, if you intend to run 285s on stock wheels you will need wheel spacers. Otherwise the tires will rub the UCA. This will happen regardless of which UCAs you have: stock, LR, don't matter!

Hope that helps. Nice name, Will!
