It's less Tacoma and more mod
I will concede that it would take more money to make a regular cab ride well, but I'm also sure it is possible with the right equipment and ability to tune it.

Took truck to do it yourself car wash. Did the engine area and under carriage to get the oil and coolant that had leaked all over from the leaking radiator and oil filter. did the "Skid Plates" separately. Ordered a new windshield to be installed Saturday, 2 cans of Anthracite Grey Dipit to try on fender flares and front valance, to decide if I like the color. Ordered Polyurethane Steering rack bushings, sway bar bushing and rear leaf spring bushing.from Aftermarket Suspension Parts, ordered a set of OEM Double Cab floor mats on Ebay and a Drivers seat side panel on Ebay. also ordered a set of brake pads, Grille clips and a battery hold down. This along with the spark plug, wires, valve cover gasket kit should all be here by the weekend. I will get the new tire on Thursday. Income tax refund hit the bank account this morning, wife has here list and I have mine Still have to get the rear brakes and decide on Shocks. After I get done with this I will take it in and have interior detailed. Might get the Tailgate repainted depending on cost. Nice to be retired and have the time and now the money to fix my truck up.

Plus, i dont need much space. All of my stuff I just throw in the back.. I have a 10 inch sub in the passenger seat, so thats kind of a bitch. But other then that, i have never owned a bigger truck, so I guess im use to it lol.

Since I don't need the room [now anyway], I almost bought a regular cab even though I knew my aging kidneys would regret it. o_O
So, after buying an extended cab instead and STILL having to completely replace the entire suspension to make it ride not just good but "safely", I now wonder what the same changes on a regular cab would do? Wheelbase matters but so does just having a suspension that . . . um . . . suspends? :notsure:

If your looking at it just for fun then a car would be a better option. But i see what your saying. Having an old 80's toyota pickup just to cruze around in would be kinda cool. My dad had a old diesel toyota, got 50mpg but took 10 miles to get to highway speed lol.

How do you like them? Once I start mowing lawns this spring I am saving up for those exact ones!

Why? I dont see any advantage of them over a xtra cab, besides taking up less space, and less turning radius. Thats it.

Those are kinda big things, plus the improved breakover angle and departure angles. They can fit in tighter spaces and damn if they don't just plain look better. I used to think Xtra Cabs are sorta fugly but I've gown to like them a bit more since owning one, looks like an afterthought someone attached to a regular cab. My ideal truck would be a xtra cab body on a reg cab frame with a mini bed (just for wheeling use, not as a DD). I plan to butcher my junk into that idea one day when I have something else to DD.
