It would have been impossible to build this without hiring hundreds of Quebec workers without this "announcement". Sadder that the game needs to be played for something so obvious. Sad part is it will be the separatists that will run with it.

Your biggest concern may be getting Toyota USA to honour any warranty on a Canadian purchased Tacoma. That could end up being expensive.

I know facts aren't really paramount to your posts but in case you missed it , the seperatist parties were soundly defeated in both provincial and federal elections in Quebec

That crazy bitch Quebec had for a premier a few years ago hurt the separatists for a decade at least. Yes, I know she wasn't a PQ but she aligned with separatists.

The pipeline will be a unity issue. The pipe-line may have to go north to the arctic ocean. After that Alberta can play hardball with the CPR and CNR.

It's not going north. No port access in the territories and Churchill can't take tankers. Plus if you want to see internationals flip their lid tell them you want to ship oil through the tundra and into ice berg infested waters.

Just cause its in The Huffington Post, doesn't make it factual. It is as biased as Fox or MSNBC. Fact of life south of the border.

Don't know about can-to-usa but I had zero issues with my American truck at Canadian dealers.

I didn't even need to go that far. Have you ever seen that Russian tanker that can backup through ice using the prop and stern to bust through? That thing cost a crazy amount of money and doesn't even always work.

The winter road to Inuvik is being built into an all weather road as we speak. Plenty of pipelines feasible up the Mackenzie valley. They even have encouragement now from the local 1st Nations.

    Yes

It just highlights another issue that is going to appear in the future when Canadian sovereignty over the Northwest Passage is challenged once the thinning ice makes it more navigatable . No presence , no sovereign right .

Don't we have a few ice breakers sitting half built in Halifax that should be ready to go soon?

To be honest a couple of Harpoon equipped fighters could protect our sovergnty fine but boats on the water is definitely a stronger deterant.

A good road isn't the same as a full year round ice free port and fleet of ice ready tankers.
