Well if you dont want to get high centered there are two ways to solve this. Either

    mount plow like on trains
    [IMG]

Or...... run wider tires, so your truck always floats on the top of the snow...

    This.

The moisture content and temperature make all the difference. Here in the rockies, often the snow is like goose down. When like that it is not only lighter and less dense, it is less slippery.

If the snow is what I call snowman-makin' snow, pack it out and it's the consistency of a banana. Even with good tires you can get stuck, especially since it's also heavier and more dense to push through and high-center on.

Haha! We here in CO get a big kick out of watching our friends from the south learning all about snow. We chuckle at y'all, but then we help.

I grew up and learned to drive in west Michigan, where the lake effect snow is always snowman snow. Back then in the late 70's and early 80's our rigs were 2wd, period. There were some front drives around, my first car was a '75 subaru with 2wd, but mostly it was rear drive 2wd. I made side money getting peoples' cars unstuck. Then I moved to Laramie, WY for four years to pretend to go to college. I had a Chevy Monza V8 when I lived there. I kept a shovel and two 50 lb bags of cat litter in the back, but really don't recall ever having much trouble getting stuck. The snow there was typically wind-deposited dry stuff. More like sand than snow.

But with 2wd I think we also were a little more practical about what conditions/snow depth we could drive in.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... rogotoko is a shitty driver (echos) It's just a truck brand man. They don't send you Christmas, or birthday presents. Fanboys make me chuckle. I still believe that a truck that boasts of it's offroad capability should be able to get out of snow below the doors with even a grand mom behind the wheel.

Just for your assumption that I never drive outside of Santa Rosa I'm going to ignore you and write you off as a complete idiot.

I had over 30" of snow at my house this past week. I'm not sure my grandmother could have made it to my truck. But my truck certainly didn't have a problem driving in it. Snow is quite a different beast than driving over fire roads, desert, rocks, or anything else. Every "offroad" terrain presents its own challenges. Snow is no different. Snow can even be different from one snowfall to the next and from day to day. Light and fluffy, wet and sticky, frozen and hard packed. It's a weird thing, that damn snow.

you guys just need to air down your tires and then it doesn't matter how deep the snow is cuz you stay on top.

well over 2 feet of snow in this picture. those weeds are 3 1/2 feet tall

Just for the fact that you have over 35,000 posts, I'm going to assume that you're one of those self appointed experts on everything, and intent on being a name caller online where you know that no one can reach you to thump you. How do you ever find the time to drive in the snow with that much online time? Why must you name call? Is that how your mother talked to you as a child?
