So, I've had my XB led's for a while and am finally asking others opinion on the kelvin rating they've experienced. They are rated for 5500k, so that in theory should perfectly match the bright white (w/ slight tint of blue) that my factory DRLs are, also I put in a Morimoto Elite 5000k HID kit at the same time. The HIDs and DRLs match quite well, but the fogs not so much. They are very much a different color, 4600ish would be my guess. They almost perfectly match my wife's factory HID's and DRLs on her Lexus. I am just wondering if anyone else is seeing the same or what?

This is really the only picture I have when I had the HIDs still in (have since gone back to stock), its an off white wall but you get the gist of it

They have a warm white color in comparison to the 5500K HID bulbs in my headlights

Do yours look as different as mine? I'm just trying to figure out if I should go to the retrofit source or if it's just the way it is. I like the color of the fogs, my OCD just makes me hate having similar style lights that don't match perfectly.

    Got it lol.

This is a similar shot to yours except I'm further from the wall to do the alignment on my headlights. There is a noticeable difference:

It's really noticeable while looking at it from the front:

I was also under the same impression that the 5000-5500K HID headlights would match with the Morimoto XB fogs but found out it didn't. It doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would but I possibly could get the next lower Kelvin for the HID headlights when they're due.

I'm looking at getting those new phillips LED headlight bulbs, and seeing some photos I think they'll match well enough. If I go the retrofit route I'll definitely go 4600ish instead of 5000-5500k. I love the output and cut off line of the fogs, just wish they were closer to that actual 5000k color. Oh well
