Have a 09 Taco with stock JBL 6 disk, XM, bluetooth.
The sales rep paired my iPhone the day I bought it. It worked perfect for a few months. Then out of the blue, the LCD did not have the BT symbol and it doesn't pick up my calls. I let it go for a few days. Tried to pair it again but it failed. Next time I got in the truck, the BT was on and it worked again. Then a month later the same thing happened. Pairing failed then it worked a day or two later. Good for about a month and now it is doing it again.
I didn't change anything on the phone. Every time this happened, I checked my phone and bluetooth was on. I did not mess with the phone setup on the truck before this happened on all occasions.
Has anyone seen this before and have a fix for this?
    Much appreciated.

i have not a problem with my bluetooth since i got mine in january. there has been a lot of problem with the new stereo, i would say go back to the dealer and tell them your problem, maybe they will switch it out with a new one. but you can go into the controls on the radio but i don't think that will do anything since it seems to be intermetant

    Welcome to TW!!

My wifes car has bluetooth and it will sometimes loose the connection. I it is fixed my just turning her phone off and back on again. Somedays it is flawless and others it is a pain in the butt.

Agreed, I would contact the dealer and see if it is something they know about.

Your problems may also be caused by the iphone rather than the truck BT. I have intermittent problems using BT in my Audi with my iphone. (Trading it in for a tacoma this week!) The problems seem to change depending on what phone firmware Im running.

Here are the various problems I have had with my iphone and BT in my Audi:
    Doesnt connect/sync on occasion
Car rings, I hit answer and the phone doesnt answer.
Car rings, I answer, the car goes back to radio but the phone answers
Lately, Calling out only works when I dial the phone. I dial from the car and the car goes back to radio while the phone dials in my pocket.

Try a diff phone and see if the problem persists.

Try repairing your phone to the unit. Sometimes they "forget" how to connect to each other. You'll need to find instructions for your phone and look up the BT info for the HU in the owners manual.

also a strange quirk i get is (i kno its an iphone but) for my nokia e75 if my text message inbox exceeds 200 or so, my phone will not connect. when this happens i go into my inbox, start deleting and viola, bt connects during the delete process when the progress bar shows about 200 remaining to delete.
possibly some issue with the iphone similar to the nokia?
