Test and make sure your will come back out. My nephews 16 trd OR has been at a local dealership for 2 weeks now because it is stuck in 4lo and they say it will be another 2 before they can fix it. They have promised him it would be fixed on 6 different dates now and say toyota will not send them an actuator to fix it.

The truck only has 800 miles on it

They'd be pulling the part off another truck or buying it back.

They won't do either right now. I am only involved because i bought the truck for him. I was at the dealership for over two hours today and all they will do is give an extended warranty. I'd like to know if this is a more widespread problem.

Like I said, they'd be buying the truck back. Quick call to an attorney would clear things up

OP, Just put it in 4wd occasionally for a few miles when it rains and the roads are wet, maybe 5-10 times a year. All you're trying to do is lubricate the seals and you don't need to drive for 10 miles to do that, 2-3 miles works fine. I've done this with all seven 4x4's I've owned over 37 years and never had a problem. Except with locking hubs in the '70's and '80's Jeep CJs I'd wait for dirt or sand conditions. Their manual lockers would quickly bind on pavement, wet or dry.

Another great reason why I live on a dirt road. I'll toss it into 4wd right after they grade the road. Not a chance of any binding then. :burnrubber:

Gee I did not know that. I have used 4 wheel drive two times in the past three years. Maybe I should pay more attention to the owners manual

sounds fishy to me... have you called Toyota corporate? having a brand new truck out that long should justify a new truck for you. I would be calling them everyday to complain. This is the first case I have heard of this...

They must read the forums because the truck was ready the day after I posted that to this thread. My brother and I sat at the dealership for two hours waiting to talk to the service manager and I think he called everybody he could to get the work going forward before he spoke to us.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
This is where my old fashioned manual hubs help a bit. I can just lock them in without engaging 4WD and boom all lubed up. Although I get more than 10 miles in 4WD anyway.

TRD OR with premium, technology and JBL almost 39 before negotiations.

I have no kids and no plans of having kids of my own. I know i could of gotten him something cheaper but my brother was in a bind paying on a 2005 tacoma that was sitting at another dealership waiting 6 months for a frame because toyota wouldn't buy it back. I will get money back so in all honesty I will end up paying 20k

I have helped a lot of my family and the older generation of my family always took care of me.

I have used my 4 wheel drive system on 9 different days over the last 2 months that I have owned the truck. Just drive it off road and yo won't have to worry about 10 miles a month on the streets.

    Wow! Good for you!

I don't want kids either, always figured I'd find some kid who lived nearby or a nephew or something and teach him stuff and leave him a big chunk of money when I die without ever saying anything in advance.
