I have a 2016 TRD Off road and its sweet. I have only one problem with the music. I have roughly 5 gigs (568 songs) on a 32 gig thumb-drive. The truck only recognizes about half of that. The grand total is 391 readable files. I can't figure it out. The drive is FAT32. All of the music files in question are either .m4a or mp3 file type and it plays and ignores both file types equally. I did think it was weird that the music picked up right where it left off after the thumb drive was formatted and disconnected for several days. I'm lost as to if it is a restriction on the truck itself, or I'm goofing up the file types of the songs. Any advice is appreciated.

OK. Me and my cyborg buddy figured it out. The restriction occurs with the thumb drive, I was making the mistake of dragging and dropping songs right into the drive (no folders). It wasn't until i broke the collection into chunks and placed them into separate folders was when it works. Unbeknownst to me, the head unit is restricted to 255 files per folder. Considering, the root folder is in fact a folder, the head unit topped out at whatever file size restriction my 391 songs accumulated to. 2.5 gigs for example

    TLDR
Break up your music collection into folders, no more than 150-200 per folder. Plug and Play!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Haha. I've had the problem since I got the truck and I gave up a long time ago. I have about 3k songs in the thumb drive but it only shows 500 on the head unit. I'll give this a try

good luck. Let me know how it pans out. I didn't have any problem with playback either. I was afraid I would have to search through numerous unorganized folders to find the desired tune. However all files appear if you were to search via artist, album etc.

I have the same issue. I called Entune's help desk and they told me it will only read the files from a thumb drive 8GB or less. I currently have a 16gb thumb drive and will create 8 folders for my 800 songs. Will let you know how it turns out.

That's BS. I am running a 32GB micro USB drive with 25GB of albums in folders and Entune by voice can pick out a single song I choose to play.

The only problem I am having with Entune is my LG V10 messaging does not work. I don't mind so much because I don't usually text so the only texts I get are from the bank or Home alarm system.

When I am in the message screen and send myself a text it comes up for a second than is gone.

So far no luck.........I created 9 folders for a total of 840 songs on a 16gb thumb drive, folders were named Rock 1, Rock 2 etc...... each containing 100 mp3 songs. When I inserted the thumb drive, it showed over 2,400 songs. Many of the titles were listed 3 or 4 times..WTF. :angrygirl:

Yeah, that's in my wish list. I can see knocking a full size thumb drive in half while reaching for my beer.

I'm in the process of doing some troubleshooting with an 8 and 32 gig stick and a SATA 2.5 external HD. I will post results. It's a shame that there are so many variables here, hard to isolate the problem. hang in there

alright, were gonna solve this damnit. the external HD was a total failure. too big for reggie FAT32 structure and NTFS doesn't fly at all in toyotas, so that's out. I had success with the 32gig; junky thing i got at big lots. Officially, its called USB DISK 2.0, but i have since deemed it taco tunes...identical success with the 8 jigga, but piss on that. I found the ultimate answer to my quandary here: http://www.ttguide.net/listening_to_a_usb_memory_device-102.html
i hope you have similar luck:cheers:

i just right clicked on the mp3 file then choose "send to" picking the thumb drive.
i rip music from XM and create a 6 hour, 1 file, mp3. just like listing to XM radio since we do not get it in hawaii.
