The current Liberal government is at a low point in popularity even with a staunchly Federalist Premier, or as they say in La Belle Prime Minister. Trudeau wont want to make any problems for him by forcing a pipeline through. Asking forgiveness from Alberta is less painful than permission from Quebec. The separatists are simply awaiting their turn.
But if main transportation and communication corridors, as well as shared resources, are not important to the country, i guess the Union is not worth saving anyways.

The ice breaker program is way behind , and in international rulings over sovereignty rights , a terrestrial presence is always more compelling that an air presence , especially highlighted if other countries with ive breaking ships are there ie USA and Russia

Good to hear. Bombardier won't honour warranties when Canucks purchase sleds south of the border, because they were 1200 cheaper.

Coulliard is losing popularity because of budget cuts and austerity measures , not because he is or isn't a federalist or seperatist

Same thing I said. Boats on the water. Then again a missile in the ass sends a quick, if not well received, message.

We will let the USA do whatever they want. If China wants to use that passage the USA is our only ally with enough leverage diplomacy to stop that from happening.

Minor Correction "all season road to Tuktoyaktuk from Inuvik" - I have a trip planned up there in March with some friends out of lower mainland should be entertaining. I wanted to drive on a frozen ocean before the road is done. This year would have been the last for the ice road but they fell behind schedule by a year.

    Should be a great trip.
I only recently saw an article about the bridge over the MacKenzie River about a year ago. I didn't even know one had been built, though I crossed the ice many times. Once I had to fly my 84 Toyota across under Aero Arctics old 204.

Yes it should be a great trip, I am really looking forward to it actually, should have done it years ago. The community is going to change quickly after the permanent road is done.

For a guy who said once or a few times they worked around industry I am suprised you are so in the dark and quiet on this topic?,,,, (no offense). Government can not control the price of commodities "no shit sherlock", however they can control access. Trudeau 2.0 is not telling Quebec to sit down as they continue to be bantering children taking the 70+ Billion in cash but not wanting to be part of the equation for a united Canada, all awhile Nutley does nothing to stand up for this province. Disagree? Then you are part of that problem and should be shameful if you've made a living off of industry in any way. A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian? Couldn't be further from the truth with people within our own country that do not want to put in the work in a unified way to reap rewards. The process of Energy East installation and Northern Gateway has been hashed to death, the plan both environmentally and financially has been discussed beyond words, fact is Liberals have done exactly as they did back in Trudeau 1.0 and Chrietien days and that is display the mind set that the east rules the west.... It's painfully obvious actually.

Yea well apparently 70+ billion in last 10-12 years isn't enough. I can hardly stomach to think that Quebec is even in Canada as they never act like proud or contributing Canadians? Hell we know they have had pipelines existing in their own provinces for over 40 years, yet state of the art technology and qualified inspection processes are not enough for them with Energy East? Rediculous to say least...

Not entirely sure why you keep talking like I'm a CBC CEO or something , guess you came up with that when you figured out I voted for the Trudeau because I said I preferred some of his policies over the Harper ones , IDK

I guess you want BC out of Canada too because there isn't a lot of support for the pipeline proposals here too ?

Wrong I lived in BC for years, they may put up roadblocks but have never made the negative statements Quebec has. I lived in NE BC for 7 years actually so understand the OGC and policies quite well. I also never stated I wanted Quebec out, I would however like them to ACT at least Canadian and do their share to become actually united?

I don't think any non CBC news stories get told as bunk . I think opinion pieces getting told as opinion pieces isn't the same thing .

I an an Albertan DO NOT want a handout, the fact they are talking of some funding to me is an insult if anything. If Trudeau actually wanted to be THAT one politician who could do something amazing it would be to unify this country. Canadas' biggest issue is its own citizens and it's own divided attitude both west and east. Step in and be a man and make this country whole, start by actually making us into a 1st world country that has port to port exports and has each province doing its' share, until then you are Trudeau 1.0 with a different haircut and repeating the NEP with different makeup on nothing more.
