hey there everyone, just joined this site finally. so i have an exhaust question. i own a 2014 tacoma v6 double cab short bed 4x4, and i was looking at upgrading the stock exhaust. wanted to get others opnion on what they believe is a good exhaust to install. looking for a catback and ideal with little to no drone from inside the truck. i mostly drive city, but do some long drives from time to time within the year. thanks.

Most people just do a muffler swap. Toyota did a really good job on a balanced exhaust on our trucks, and changing it actually affects your low end torque

Agree with Sean I would just do a muffler swap I'm considering one just to give it a slightly aggressive sound since I chopped my exhaust after I installed my HC

What's your main purpose you're trying to accomplish? Little more power headers!

anyone know if you lose low end torque using the TRD catback as well?

I noticed no loss of torque doing Gibson catback on my truck. Maybe the torque loss was a 4.0 thing? Mine is 2.7. I also have intake, header, IM spacer & 265/70/16 30.6" C tires. I'm pretty sure oversize tires will affect low end torque more than a catback ever would. My other 2.7 had 285/60/18s and yeah, there was torque loss alright. Those are 32" E tires. I doubt Toyota would market something called TRD and it lessen performance.

point was..............toyota will stamp TRD on things that run lean..............as well as have been shown to be illegal (first gen TRD intake for the 4.0)

ppl have to much faith in this TRD nonsense..........toyota doesnt make any of it, and sometimes poor vendors get the contracts.

    sidenote..............look at our tires

The issue for TRD is that it is not a legal intake system (1st model made by AFE) and it was being sold through the Toyota dealers.

I met with the owner and the VP of aFe and they where working hard on a carbon trap solution so that the intake could be CARB certified, but I guess they never pulled it off and K&N got the contract.

What K&N did is pretty much copy the intake for the new 2010 FJ and 4Runner. It uses the very same filter size and carbon trap and looks very much the same. Where they went wrong is they did not size the tubing properly for the MAF sensor and it jacks up the calibration. It has been jacked up for a good while and it appears they are not going to be fixing it, which is good. URD can fix it like we have fixed many TRD products in the past.

FYI, it looks like the only intake on the market that will fit the 2012 V6 is the URD TCAI.

Pretty sure the magnaflow muffler swap is solid. I've been doing some research lately and that seems like a solid choice.

I do like the way MBRP sounds though. I had one on my Jeep.
