I have a 2000 tacoma prerunner 3.4 v6 with 2wd. I've seen both tires work at once but when i burnout its only the right tire. It would be great if someone could tell me what kind of differential these trucks use. also my brake system light is always on even when the e brake isnt engaged. anybody had this problem?

    thanks,

Your brake may be dragging a bit. Lube your e brake line. Also if you dont have the locker button on the lower left of your dash then its an open diff.

Don't you have a differential lock button on the left side of the steeering wheel? That turns your truck into a posi traction axle.

The light for the brake could be you are just low on fluid or the parking brake lever is not seated all the way in.

When youve seen both tires spin its your differential differentiating kicking the power back and fourth at a high rate of speed making it seem like both are spinning equally. When doing a burn out the differential finds that one tire will slip easier than the other and it stays that way untill traction changes, thus just burning out on one tire. And its usually thr right side because of the way power is transferred through the diff.
