I cringe when I think about my first time learning of the power of battery acid when I was a "kid". I Hauled a cracked old deep cycle up out of our fishing boat, put it in the boat house, then went to sleep with my pants on in a sleeping bag (because it was 40° in the cabin), and I woke up with not much left of my pant legs. To this day I can not figure out how I got so lucky! To whatever long johns I was wearing... I owe my thighs.

I bought my 2005 Tacoma in 2014. Looked at the battery one day and couldn't believe it was the original factory battery. 9 years old and it was still starting the truck. I went out almost immediately and bought an Optima. Not sure if my Optima is one the crappy Mexico made ones, but my next battery will be a Northstar.

Could it have been an OEM battery that was bought circa 2010?

The battery had the manufacture date on it which was 2005.

Is there a reason why you love this battery so much outside of just 4 years of life. Because for life to be a legitimate reason that battery would have to last 8-12 years to be worth it. My batteries in my truck usually last 5 years and I just bought the cheapest I could get.
Outside of a special group buy, these batteries are over $300.

I know nothing about batteries, so please enlighten me since you seem to be the battery man.

I use stock or whatever battery Sams club has for 11 Tacoma and it starts my truck fine in- 30F degrees.

Well my stock battery in my 2011 is finally crapping out. Are the Optima batteries any good? I need a good cold cranking battery to deal with the NY winters.

    What's the difference between a 24F AGM and a 27F AGM?

I just replaced one of those in my Tacoma...I left the dome light on and it killed the battery overnight...it was prob going out, It wouldnt take a charge so rather than keep messing with it I just replaced it. I do like the Autozone Gold batteries. Good warranty. Worst batteries Ive seen are the Interstate and Sears batteries.

Optima's/ Northstars are overpriced. No reason to spend that much money on a battery. Dudes on here will say yea but Ive had my optima in my truck for this many years with zero problems, yada yada. Same can be said for the battery you buy at walmart, costco or autozone for half the cost , at the same spec and with a better warranty.

Get a battery that meets spec and has a solid warranty at the cheapest cost.

You guys putting in oversized batteries are going to stretch the hell out of your core support. Like hypertension, when you find out, it's too late and damage is done.

I'm quite happy with my Everstart MAXX batteries from Walmart, only 45 lbs vs. the 50 pounder that came out. I run them for 5-years and replace. At just over $100, you can't beat them. The Toyota one only lasted 4-years and change before it died.
