Yeah, I suppose you're right. ESPN is the only one ranking FSU as number one, with their (1) 5 star recruit, while every other source is ranking Alabama as number one with (3) 5 star recruits. I would think it fairly obvious that between the two, they have the same amount of commits, and the clear winner would be the one with more elite commits...

Also, I think ESPN finally got sick of being water boarded with the tears of every other conference over their "SEC bias" and feels pressure to not crown the real champ.


Alas, in ALL reality, none of it matters, and some recruits signed yesterday may not even be at their new programs after a year or two...let alone meet the potential bestowed upon them by an "expert" scout...

 

I really wanted to argue this and I actually wrote a pretty long winded post but instead congrats, fuck bama, but congrats.


Also the 2017 chickfila kickoff might be the most talented game ever.

Hahaha. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I'm sure you'll understand when I say that I'm used the the "fuck bama" statements, and honestly understand them quite a bit. I couldn't stand hearing about USC when they were dominant. I agree on the Chic-fil-A bowl, it will be fun to watch. My bro-in-law is a devout FSU fan, so we may watch it together, or maybe not, so we don't hate each other afterwards. hahahahahahahahahaha.

My last statement in the original post is still how I feel about it. It may not even matter. Bama lost so many running backs last year, from "number 1" recruiting classes, it is scary to think that the next two guys haven't even played a whole quarter by themselves. Players come and go so frequently now. It would be interesting to see how many players are left from last years class, or the year before.

 

I kinda wish I had saved the draft of what I had written. I could have easily changed up parts of it and turned it into a pretty damn good article about FSUs NSD compared to other top schools.


Also don't know if y'all saw the story on Shavar Manuel, but he was secretly an FSU verbal 2 weeks ago when he committed to UF. On his tweet when he committed to UF he even said ChopChop which apparently was on purpose and the FSU staff was advising him what to say to UF.

 

Like what has been mentioned already. You don't know if the 5 star commit will even be with the program in a year or two.? Things happen. Grades, pressure from high school to college style play, discipline issues and the list can go on and on. Odds are in the schools favor, the more upper crust players you can recruit, the chances are higher that at least one or two or three will land on their feet when they get to campus. Sometime, I think we forget how old these kids are and a lot of times where these kids come from. Just my two cents.

 

Bama did get more 5*, but FSU wrangled in a massive amount of 4*s.

What other recruiting websites do you reference besides rivals and ESPN?

At the end of the day, like you said, all this really doesn't matter. Some won't end up playing and some won't develop like their expected to.

And yeah forgot about scout. I never read that one. Tend to stick to SB Nation (cause Bud is the man) and rivals when it comes to recruiting news.

Alabama recruiting is a freaking machine... Regardless of where the current class ranks...

"Heading into spring practices Alabama's roster features 19 players who were considered consensus 5-star recruits, in addition to 49 4-star prospects. Combined, that's just under 80 percent of the entire team."

Four out of Five players are 4* are better. We have no excuses to lose ever.

The school with the next highest number of 5* players has 11 (USC), then 9 (FSU).
