Grats on newborn, after a few months start introducing introduce noise. We have two boys and my mom taught me the importance of teaching kids to sleep with noise. You don't want them to learn they need absolute quiet to sleep. Now, they're both asleep on the couch while my wife watchers her show and I watch hockey. I could vacuum and they wouldn't wake up.

The only thing worse than unwanted parenting advice... unwanted parenting advice in a hockey trash talk forum from a Canucks fan. :D

I just put my 9 month old to sleep about an hour ago. I think I'll follow suit because I'm TV less for the night.

Anyone else bothered by Zack Kassian in Copper n' Blue? It's kind of like Bertuzzi playing for the Av's.

    Copper and Blue?? _sigh_

ZK is fitting in great with the Oil. Scored another goal last night. Agitated the Sens into a least 1 penalty (maybe more).
If that bugger keeps his nose clean, he's totally worth an extension!

    That's a big if.

What do you think of the Nugent-Hopkins and Eberle trade rumors? Is this the year the oil finally reload the D with some good players in exchange for a surplus of offensive talent?

In this league with a lack of decent defensemen I'm surprise they weren't able to trade a 1.5 million dollar D-man. I wouldn't mind TO taking a shot with him and seeing what happens. It certainly wouldn't hurt anything.

Very big if!! But he still, basically, has no down side. The Oilers dumped a large contract - and a goalie that was not needed.

If Nuge wouldn't have busted his hand, I believe he might be gone by now. Maybe! Or he would definitely be in play by Trade Deadline. Some even think he might still be trade bait. But I'm not sure how that would work with his injury. I'm a big fan of Nuge - but I would gladly send him packing if it means getting a decent D in return. But there's a pretty big hitch in that plan. There are not many teams willing to part with a good veteran D man right now. It would certainly require a fairly substantial overpayment to get a team to give up someone.
The Oilers have some amazing younger D men, with great potential down the road. But they are suffering because they have no solid veteran to guide them. I doubt Nuge has enough buying power to get a guy like that.
Ebs was very likely in the same boat as Nuge. But that may have changed now. The 2 games since the ASB are the first time that McDavid and Ebs have ever played a game together - no less on the same line. And now they're showing that it's quite the combination. Ebs knows how to get into the tough, greasy areas. And McDavid is a lock to get him the puck. The only thing I've noticed (as well as others), is that Ebs has a tough time keeping up with McDavid. I've noticed that McDavid has to pull back on the throttles, if he's doing a rush with Ebs. But that's been a bit of an issue with anyone McDavid's skated with.

I hate to say it but Edmonton needs someone like Dion Phanuf. BTW I'm not saying they need to pick up Phanuf, I think that's not a fit, but someone like him would probably help the Oilers. Unlike most Leafs fans I don't want them to trade him. He's actually a pretty good D-man and, other than the contract being slightly over priced, he's good value for someone who has his skill set and TOI. Anyways, someone with 10 years under there belt but not a true amazing #1 D-man who, at least, has a decent full skill set would probably be a good fit. Especially if they've struggled a bit at some point in their carrier and they can pass that knowledge on. I doubt the Oilers can get anyone better than that with what they are offering anyways.

I agree. But it will be interesting. As I said - very few teams will give up a D man, for what most teams are offering. I'd package Nuge, Yak, and Shultz together - for one really good D man. But that's in my own little dream world. And likely why I'm not an NHL GM. lol
