I won't be able to camp out but I might be able to at least come up and ride the trails with yall. Patterson Gap Rd is another road right there next to Charlie's Creek that is a standard F.S. road but was covered in lots of snow, mud, and ice yesterday. If you approach it from Dillard Ga via Betty's Creek road, Patterson Gap runs into Tallulah River road which of course takes you to Charlie's Creek.

I'll be planning a trip up in that area early Spring. You guys let me know how the trails are looking at far as pinstripes; I'm trying to find some trails that won't jack up my truck's paint.

I'm trying to find some more trails to run. I haven't hit anything new in about a year

Hey man, look into maybe driving up to the Cohutta Wilderness area. Head up HWY 411 past Chatsworth and then maybe head east on Ladd Springs Road (forgot what name the road eventually turns into). Soon thereafter it turns into Forest Service road and there are miles and miles of dirt roads out there, with great hiking and camping as well. I just bought a 2015 Off Road and am dying to check those roads out in a proper off roading vehicle...

I agree. Just have to contact one of the mods and I'm sure they can make it a sticky

A few of us just got back from a trip this weekend. I'm sure we'll schedule another good meetup here in a month or two in the mean time go checkout Trey Mountain and Nimblewill Gap as those are going to be two very easy fun trails to do.

I don't know about recommending Tray for a stock Pre Runner... It looked pretty rutted out when I was up there last saturday...

There are 2 ways up to the top of Tray Mtn on FS-79 (Tray Mtn Rd)... Coming in from the Westside, north of Helen, from Unicoi Turnpike. And then coming in from the Eastside from Chimney Mountain Rd. If you go up to the top parking area from Unicoi Turnpike (Hwy 17) side, you will be fine. If you try going up (or down) the Chimney Mtn Rd side, you may run into some issues. The Chimney Mtn side was really rutted out last saturday. I was going to come down that side but I ended up turning around. I would have felt a lot more comfortable going up that section, but not going down it solo...

And make the .7 mile hike up to the very top... Some prety views from the summit.

Yeah, with a stock 4x2 I'd stick to Tray Mountain Road and just turn around at the top. Thats the trip I did my first time and had a blast. Of course now I'm going to place like AOP and finding out how useful armor and 4x4 is.

Yeah man you'll know when you're at the top cause theres a big mud pit so just circle around it and head back down the way you came.

You should pass through Helen and Tray Mountain Road will be on your right shortly after.
