Hey everyone, I'm new to the world of Tacomas and having purchased the newly released model, I'm digging everywhere I can to find aftermarket parts. I'm also pretty new to my area and trying to find the best places to take her on some local, weekend trips.

Very nice, I don't think id have the heart to soil such an infant truck with aftermarket parts.

I don't want to do anything too crazy off the bat. I'd like to figure out how to get a winch in the stock bumper if possible, and looking into options for the bed. This is pretty much the first truck I've owned so storage and security are obstacles that are new to me.

What kind of options for the bed? topper? Also, mounting a winch in the stock bumper sounds like it would be pretty tough.

@Nighthawk I'm not a huge fan of toppers purely based on appearance. The route I'd like to go would probably be much more expensive, but I was thinking about a tonneau cover and putting a low profile tool box underneath it. Ideally, I'd like to put a bed cage that mounts to the factory bed rails for easy removal, but I haven't looked into load ratings and all that yet.

As for the winch, I figured it'd be a challenge, but I thought I came across a post somewhere on here describing a factory creating a plate that would conceal in the stock bumper. It was still in the works though.

Hmmmm not sure there is much option for mounting a winch behind the stock bumper. And since you are a 16 some stuff is limited as it hasent come out yet. I would suggst going to toytech website and checking out all their suspension goodies and some bumpers.

@WOODEX M.E. Thanks for the link. There's some armor on there that has my attention. I know I'll have to sit around for a while for products to come out. Nature of the beast.

Ive done some weekend, solo, overland type trips when I had my wrangler. That's the route I want to go now, but I'll have the family along from time to time now.

Its ok, my roomate has a wrangler sitting in our driveway. Hard to knock them when we all know how capable they are.

I'm not a fan of the topper either. With the bed cage, what would you be using it for? The load ratings are pretty good on some of them. I've been looking into one to support a rooftop tent in the back.

You'll have to let me know if you make any progress with the stock bumper winch mount. That's assuming Tacoma World doesn't convince you to buy an aftermarket bumper before then lol.

@Nighthawk I'm not completely against a steel bumper, but I'd want it to be clean looking, and with the upgrades I want to do, there's gonna be a lot of weight added as is. See what happens.

As for the bed rack/cage, I do want to put a tent topper on it. I'd like to get one that would have the tent sit flush with the roof line. If you have any brands you can recommend, it'd be appreciated. All the ones I've seen sit high.

Is there any such thing as a bed rack that would still leave free the side bed rails to mount a sliding tonneau cover?

Tacoma8985: Check out the Allpro site: They also have a more elaborate system in which you can choose the shortened height, which would seem to allow the rooftop tent to set even or below the cab:
