LED HEADLIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS

What brand are these? Company name? Warranty? From your ebay listing I do not see these details. I think people want a product from a legit company with an established reputation.

 

Why? LED's in projectors suck compared to a good HID setup.

 

That is based on your experience. In my experience this LED set and its output is way better than any HID including Morimoto that I have tried. Again your conclusion is based on the LEDs you have tried, not this

 

From what I read:
These LED bulbs are designed to outperform standard halogen bulbs by up to 2.5 times the light output, and match the brightness and kelvin color of 6,000K HID bulbs.
Each single beam LED bulb emits 2,200 lumens.

My Morimotos put out:
5500K 55w:
Pure White (~4000 lm)

So how are the LED's better?

How do you figure? The pic of the package on the ebay listing has none of that info and is different than the ones shown on the GTR Lighting website.

 

I installed these LED's on my truck this afternoon. The driver side was pretty easy to install but the passenger side was a bit of a pain in the ass because it was such a tight fit. I am pretty satisfied with the output. I wish I had ordered them before I drove from Ontario to Alberta last month.

GTR Gen 2's are well over $200 and have a nicer reflector housing. For 6000k they want $229.

But at this point I am just guessing since I dont have a set in my grubby little hands.

 

The discrepancy in the packaging is a bit suspicious. I can't prove it but I'm thinking they're knockoffs. I do mostly city driving at night so I think the OPT7 kit would do just fine.

 

I love themorimoto hid kit for the 2016 tacoma. I wouldnt choose led over hid, until it 1.5x to 2x brighter than hid.

 

OP, you did sound somewhat like a salesman for those bulbs that was why people questioned you. Since I installed LED bulbs in my '13 Taco, the night driving for me has been a pleasure. I wouldn't go back to yellowish stocker crappy bulbs any day now. My only concern is that these bulbs have to be ordered online which may take a couple of weeks for them to arrive. I know it is not if but when they will fail on me. They are quite pricy (at least it is true for me) and I can't justify paying for two sets at the same time just so I can use one set as backups. Enjoy your new LED!

 

I installed the lights on my truck. I have done everything myself including the lift kit. I am a mechanic so trust me I have more then enough knowledge on how to install HID and LED lights. So give me a break dude.

 

I tried some LED's in my projector low beam headlites..... Looked real good in daytime... at nite they were terrible.... No distance compared to the OEM H11's.... I guess they are not made for that type of lens ....

 

@over60 one of the member were raving about the opt7 led I think, he said it really bright, $150 to $180. If morimoto make h11 led kit I would buy it. I got the hid kit from them 95% happy. I need to try it with the oem grommet. the flickering when hitting a rough pavement can be annoying.

 

Thats the problem with the LED's(all LED kits) in the projector housing. They are bright but light is dispersed and spread out instead of being focused by the projector lens. Some people dont mind but when you are on a dark road you want distance and have no need to see the trees 30 yds out on the sides. Manny ,myself and others have played with a few different top line LED kits. The true GTR Gen 2's might be a little better but the issue is that the LED's are 2 sided and do not provide the light a full 360 like bulbs do.

 

I'm a believer... LED's don't belong in my low beam projector headlights...!!

 

But...my VLED's work great in the hi-beeams and the OPT7's in the foglights.

 

No looking to start any brawl. Just my experience. I am using the H11 conversion kit with canbus from xenondepot. Easy install. Light color matches the DRL. Like the braided heat sink. No fans to get gummed up with dust. No flickering. Throws out a nice beam. No electrical issues.
I have vled tritons in all sockets in the tail light housing. Nice and bright with a crisp light. Interior lights all LEDs from superbright Led. Again. No electrical issues. led wide angle replacements in the fogs. I kept high beams halogen but put in Sylvania super whites. I just don't think LED or HID throw out for the distance needed for high beam. Front turn signals replaced with plug and plays Amber with resistor from xenondepot. Everything is working perfect. Maybe I am just lucky. I did have an issue before I switched to the Vleds a defective bulb was sending power from the running light circuit back into the brake light circuit. But was easily diagnosed and repaired. Again not looking to agitate. Just saying what worked for me.

 

I hear ya. Used the Xenon Depots also for testing in the projectors. I have vled taillights with resistors. No issues whatsoever.

 

No, it's actually based on testing and luminosity with a proper lux meter. HIDs perform better than LEDs.
