BTW don't forget that greenhouses here are shutting down due to the high costs of heating. IIRC some of the weed operations have moved underground to reduce those costs but field economics might win out in the end... it'll be interesting to see.

Then again it seems like self growing is becoming popular is some areas that weed is legal so maybe the field scale would just be a few fields for seed production with main production coming from greenhouse and home operations? It's possible.

Not sure how one would remove the males efficiently in a large scale field operation, that could be the deal breaker.

 

haha hey, it's entirely possible that a plant or 10 happen to be growing somewhere that anybody frequents. geez could even be on anybody's property if living in rural area without even knowing...... woot haha

We have two large medical marijuana grow ops in my city as well, one site is using a former truck manufacturing plant.

 

this really is an interesting topic, glad i checked in here tonight.

 

There are currently 27 health canada licensed medical marijuana producers in canada. ontario has the most at 15, where bc has only 6 right now with 3rd in number being saskatchewan with 2. not the expected numbers imo!

 

meh, follows the population, and the local political climate. These sites still need to get local municipality business, power, etc. licenses.

 

Breed the males to be taller or shorter. Then by cutting at a certain height you eliminate what you don't want. That's the same way hybrid wheat is produced in Europe when people said that would be "impossible". It's actually very simple.

Huh. I could be wrong but I would think if you're removing males at harvest it's too late. From the little bit I've read the idea is to remove the males before they release their pollen so females don't waste energy producing seeds.

 

It's still doable. If you pick and breed the right varieties it wouldn't be too hard. You can also use GMO's or accelerated breeding to create a plant with infertile males. We do it all the time in Canola.

That piece is misleading and purposefully divisive .

 

I know the family of a MP that has been told housing for them will not be available when he is assigned to a Canadian Forces base when he was promised housing before training. He's quitting the forces over it. I wonder if it's related. I'll have to look into it.
