At $6k, no way. I was thinking it'd be around the $4k mark all said and done.

So it's all Califournia's fault. Let the rest of us have our supercharger and they can wait. :annoyed:

it cracks me up how so many people assume they know me or what I do lol not sure if that's a hater or just ignorance... Regardless, I've been happy with mine and would be even happier if I had a supercharger to go with it. I wanted the TRD version that Magnuson made but after talking with them this new version is suppose to be a lot better becaus of eliminating a bunch of toyota restrictions. I might pull the trigger on it especially because of towing.

Okay, so can you clarify how and if the bullydog is more than just the OBD 2 based tuner it was a few years ago? Can it actually adjust the ECU tune enough with just the OBD 2 hookup to get better AFR's than the stock TRD tune while keeping things well in the safe zone and does bullydog have some proof of that?

Keep in mind that the URD UCON is coming to all model years very soon, actually it's already on some of the post 09 trucks now, which gives full tune options versus a plug in solution from Bullydog. I would think the UCON at 1K value would be more worth while than what's being offered here but maybe Bully Dog has made some real changes and can prove it.

If I was going to throw down 7 K those are the things I'd want to know. No offense intended :).

Probably restrictions on the airflow. A few people would bore out the TRD supercharger a bit to gain more power. It wouldn't surprise me if Toyota played things on the safe side, excessively so for most, and magnuson is just pushing things a bit farther now that they have control of the design. Enlarge the air passages and you get more air, it's not rocket science. That could also explain why they MAY be having difficulty getting California emissions compliance.

Yeah, the gains would be small but when someone who sells the thing is telling someone they got rid of some Toyota restrictions that makes me think airflow. Salesmen always up sell small changes as huge gains.

Call Bullydog for technical questions... I'm just a user buddy. They made a custom tune on my truck, they had it for 4 days, for a product they wanted to bring to market, the 4.0 non-supercharged. I have no clue where they are in that process. I did see an increase in my average fuel economy and technically it dyno'd at just under 10hp increase. Do I know how or why, nope. All questions for them. I didn't expect a race truck from a gas tuner. I wanted better mpg more than anything and I did achieve that on avg around 1mpg better. I don't get caught up in the technical nuances, I just care if it works at the end of the day.

From what I have heard is Magnuson is doing their own tune on their supercharger using the bullydog but programmed by Magnuson. So full control over the supercharger from start to finish to get the most out of it. This is all just chatter I have heard though. I'm sure details will be released when they are ready. But after towing for a couple years with my trailer I have learned how crappy it is having "stock" power so a supercharger is on my list for sure.

No worries, I'm not harping on you. I'm just stating the other side of the coin without being a dick about it :).

From what you've described then the UCON would be the better option then when and if it's available for newer trucks. It just adds more functionality than the bullydog. That being said hopefully this Bullydog related product will have a better reputation than the last one did.

Probably a little A, and a little B. You're in marketing right? Just makes me skeptical of your reviews, that's all.

Edit to add: Then when we hear about forum members pushing products to get discounts or whatever from a vendor, that I won't name, it's kinda killed the car forum community for me a bit. Sucks.

@DefconBrix You probably saw an increase in mpg and power from the Bullydog due to just running a little leaner. Our trucks run pretty rich to cover all the conditions that the full range of customers will put them through. From towing, to different elevations, and temperatures. I'd be weary of it especially since you tow. Hopefully it has some safeguards built in. Have an AFR to monitor?

    Marketing... Yes.

Social media strategist... Yes. Husband... Yes.
    Father... Yes.
    Marine Corps Veteran... Yes.
    Beard grower... Yes.
    2a supporter... Yes.
    And so on...

I really don't care if you believe me, trust me or like me. I'm just sharing my experience on something I have had for over a year now. I'm not on BullyDogs payroll in anyway nor am I obligated to talk highly of them. I work for a digital agency full time as a social media strategist, they are not a client of them either. Believe what you need to believe to make yourself sleep better at night but don't judge someone's morals and character when you don't know them and just assume some things from internet troll chatter. Have a great Super Bowl weekend though. Cheers!

Edit add: growing up I always wanted to have a cool car, be in a car club and shows etc... So I thoroughly enjoy "marketing" my truck. It's far from a show rig when you look at it up close but from my camera lens I make sure the imperfections aren't visible lol

For the record, @DefconBrix I think the bullydog tuner is a joke and would never buy one after the shit show thread we had on TW with them, but I did buy that sPod SE with touchscreen after seeing it in your truck. You've got a pretty badass truck!

Thank you very much! What sucks is I'm the only one with a non-supercharged version so there is no one else to grab experience from... I haven't talked with them since I got it so really no idea on what the plans are or if they decided to not go into production with them. Just no clue. I haven't been on TW much recently so not sure about what went down with them either. I've definitely heard mixed reviews from all tuner companies when it comes to gas engines though lol so I don't expect much either.

Never called you out as person. I merely raised skepticism of an online persona's product review. Thanks for explaining your relationship with the company, though you were not obligated to.
Have a great SB weekend devil dog!

As much fun as it has been watching this tit-for-tat exchange between manly men, I have to interrupt and ask for guidance. I've got a line on a supercharger taken off of a t-boned 2015 but it doesn't have the entire fit kit intact. The seller bought the used blower from someone else and tried to piece together the parts required and eventually bit the bullet and bought another blower and fit kit combined. So, does anyone have any idea if it's possible to strap in the blower with an FJ intercooler and fit kit? The parts that are still missing from the fit kit that I'll still have to source are the idler pulleys, tensioner bracket assembly and the spacers.
