Door ding protection

My doors are starting to ding and show scratches in parking lots. Wondering what folks are using to protect door dings?

Rock sliders

 

Avid bolt on sliders.

 

Park as far away from the front door as possible.

 

Second for sliders. Mindless minivan drivers beware, my truck dings back.

 

Yep, sliders do the trick! That and I always park away from people and usually shoot for the spots next to a curb.

Now that is stylish

 

Park in the back of the lot, next to a curb, and back in. You can then use your side mirror to hug the curb and leave ~1 inch from curbing your wheels. Leaves ample side on the other side of you still within your space.

For even more safety, pick a side that when another driver parks next to you their driver door will open on the opposit side of your truck. Virtually eliminates the possibility of anyone opening a door next to you. Been doing this for 20 years and have maybe gotten 1-2 dings total.

 

My truck came with predator side steps so rock sliders is not possible. Thanks for the suggestions and advice guys. I am leaning to try the 3M door edge protection film. Anyone tried these?

I have amp power steps. If I v think the space is small or someone may open a door into mine I just keep my steps down. When down they stick out far.

 

For your existing dings just call local PDR guy. I always park away from other vehicles, but now and again you'll get some jackass ram right in next to you.

 

The protectors in your link will help protect the door edges when YOU open them into something, but will not help at all when someone else opens their door into yours. Rather try these, and they really do look quite good when installed on the lower part of door.

i have the same, but with kick outs. Sticks out more. As well as color matched door mouldings. If a door gets past my sliders, the mouldings would get hit and not the sheet metal. Hasn't happened though i park very selectively.

I always park like this but yet still get some A'hole who insists on parking next to me. Happened just the other day at Costco. Parked out back against the side wall,backed into the spot next to the curb, no one within at least 12 spots. Come out 20 mins later and there's some POS Dodge truck right next to mine with his whole drivers side banged up. Luckily there were no dings but I swear I'm just a magnet for this type stuff!

 

On the subject of bad parking.... How about this! Seen this morning. This person decided the others bumper would be a good place to park on.

 

Double Park at the back of the lot, if somebody is ignorant enough to smack your truck with a door then why can't I be ignorant enough to take 2 spots where nobody is parked

 

Good suggestion! When I get a little older and it hurts to walk from clear across the parking lot at Walmart, I will park like that. I'll probably drop dead from a massive heart attack before I have to park like that though. At least I hope so.

 

Why are you shopping at Wal-Mart if you can afford a Tacoma ?
