~2400 great miles since October!! I have the hood adhesive failing issue but with no effect. Hoping they come out with a TSB. But besides that no complaints and love my truck!

I have ~2,000 miles since December and I love the truck. It has some minor issues, mostly small rattles for me, but I would purchase the vehicle again for sure. I came from a 2002 Tundra AC V8 and this is definitely a nicer truck.

I went thru pep boys with a crap magnet, got it all
OR 2WD, 7,500 miles , drove it across the country and back, had it about a month and a half. This truck does exactly what I bought it for. Transmission works great, locker works great. Couple of modifications (auto lock tail gate, ect. ) It is a light truck for sure. I have had "zero " problems.

I am happy with my purchase. But if the consensus is that this truck is disliked, I will change my opinion to not happy.

I am happy with my purchase of a 3rd generation after two 2nd Gens.

and I have 56 people on Ignore........all of whom do not own third gen. Most of whom who do not like the 3rd gen and most who cannot offer much insight when it comes to the 3rd gen.

It is not mine but I paid for it. The 16 OR I bought for my nephew spent 2 weeks of the 3 that he has owned it at the dealership because the transfer case wouldn't come out of 4 low.

His prior truck was a 15 tacoma OR and it was flawless but is in no way as nice of a truck as the 16. I have driven both and owned an 06 and 13 and would take a 16 over any of them any day. His first vehicle a 2005 tacoma sat at another dealership for 7 months waiting on a replacement frame. So obviously all tacoma's have major issues and a lot of other vehicles do also.

I've owned an 86, 91, 99 and an 04 truck covering three different changes to the Toyata truck line, the 2016 will be my fifth truck in 30 yrs of continuous ownership. Each change in the truck brought new things owners really enjoyed and deleted some things people cared about. Things like independant front suspension instead of solid axle, electronic fuel injection, electronic locking hubs, double cabs, short beds and an increase in overall size and hp.

I really don't see the 16 as being a problem, people have been asking for more horsepower and better fuel economy for years, now that they have it, what is there to complain about. If you don't like the differences between the generations of trucks, pick your generation and be happy with it. Let the other owners feel the same about their trucks. If you no longer like Toyotas and the direction the Tacoma has moved to, buy something else and enjoy that instead.

To the OP, don't worry about what other people think about your truck, it only matters what YOU think about your truck. Don't get wrapped up about negative postings on the internet by a bunch of people you don't know or likely never meet. Take some time away from the internet and go enjoy your truck.

Wanted to thank you for your time and responses. Love my truck. And have loved all my totota trucks. Only vehicles I have owned since 1981 As I said when I started the thread just wanted to see if there was any validity to what appears to be an urban myth. I wish you all safe travels in your trucks. After 38 years on the job chasing bad guys I am retiring to sunny southern Cali this coming October. I will be driving my new truck literally across the country from Boston to San Diego. I am counting down the days. It is going to be one hell of a ride.
