Ok as most of you know I live is shithole NJ.

So apparently the state needs to create jobs so they decided fixing roads in the middle of fucking winter is a good idea, go figure.

So anyway now I have black road tar all over my truck. The fenders doors bed and all up in the inner fender wells.

So my question is what should I use to remove it or should I wait till spring to get it off?

I don't want to take all the wax off the truck and have the paint unprotected with all the road salt still.

    Suggestions would be nice.

Works for me. I never use off the shelf tar remover. WD 40 has a LOT of uses, This is one of them

It seams to be working. Just going to take a lot of time. I'm going to need to buy a few gallons.

Use a solvent that's made for road tar, not saying that wd40 doesn't work but that's not its intended purpose

I'm pretty sure goo gone works on tar. It may take a little elbow grease but it's not a harsh solvent.

WD-40 has no one intended purpose. It is all powerful multi-use Jesus juice

WD-40 was invented to stop corrosion on the atlas missle. That was its intended purpose. A few employees took some home and used it to fix some squeaks on doors around there house and a few other things, so they started to sell it commercially. It's a lubricant, not a solvent but has many uses

I actually got to laugh out loud at a few replies on here. That was great.

I just bought my truck and decided to wash for the first time tonight.

Sadly I have road tar all over the truck.

My neighbor suggested using a liquid car wax to remove the tar.

Used a Terry cloth with the liquid wax and the tar just wiped off no scrubbing involved.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Glad it came off. Try a clay bar next time. Safer for paint.

I use a Clay Bar and or a Cleaner Wax to remove Tar Spots on my Vehicles.

I have heard gasoline works wonders, however I don't know how paint safe that would be.

Not really sure how clay bar is safer than liquid car wax.

To me I am waxing and cleaning at the same time.
