Exactly. I looked recently because I was throwing the idea around about just getting another new Subie instead of a Taco, and since they don't make a wagon in the WRX or STI, I was out.

lol the turbo EJ motors ate just as much oil. I was doing a quart every 1k miles also in my 2004 STI... I was a little worried about that engine by the end. Oddly enough I think I sold mine at 142,000 or so also. It was right around 140,000.

This fits me too. Went from a 2007 Impreza to a 2012 Impreza and now in a 2016 Tacoma. Guess it's the logical progression.

Wow I saw ALOT of like-minded comments in this thread, read through these comments with a big smile! My other car is a 2007 Forester XT and I was about to buy the Mitsubishi Evo Final Edition but went with the 3rd gen TRD-OR 4x4 instead. The looks and technical performance of Tacomas and Subaru all stem from their roots as off-road race cars and I think it appeals to us!

For those that did go from wrx to taco, did you go from manual wrx to manual taco? Manual wrx to auto taco? Auto to auto?

Curious because I sat in a 2016 manual trans wrx couple days ago at Philly car show. Throws felt nice and short and precisely gated. Made me think I could buy one used in a couple of day with manual. Opted for the auto in my Tacoma but do like a good manual especially in a sporty car. Test drove stick Tacoma and it didn't do it for me. Coming from an accord manual, hard to love a truck stick.

I went from a 15 WRX manual to a DC auto Tacoma. I needed a bed again and missed being higher off the ground.

Went from an STI to a manual Taco and hated it. The 6-speed in my 2013 felt sloppy and the rev hang made it almost impossible to rev match accurately. It was a huge let down coming from an STI so I actually ended up trading it in. I got the exact same color, same year, DCSB w/ auto lease-return instead of the AC manual that I had before. I have been happy with it since and have no intention of going back to a manual Tacoma until they do some serious work on their transmission.

I know I'm not the only one that feels this way, there's a whole thread here about how the manual in a taco just doesn't feel right and that's coming from seasoned drivers who have been driving with a stick for 30 years.

Consequently when I got a Jeep (right after selling the STI) it was 5-speed manual because I wanted a little more stick in my life again. Well, that actually is an awesome transmission and feels great. It really reaffirms my choice to get rid of the 6-speed taco I had. There are good manuals out there, the STI and Jeep Wrangler feel great to me. So far I can say the Chevy Cobalt and Tacoma manuals stand alone in my personal experience as tied for the worst possible implementation of a manual.

I love my STI. Running stock wheels with Blizzaks on it right now. Come spring the coil overs will be adjusted and dropped and the Rota wheels will go back on. I just got the Taco and immediately put the suspension and wheels on it. The truck is so sweet.

I have a 2010 WRX and a 2016 Taco. Everyone that is posting derogatory remarks about Subaru's can go suck a lemon. The reason why I bought the Tacoma is that we were starting a family and needed a second practical vehicle. The WRX is the most practical/ fun car out there. Mine is hatch outfitted with a few performance upgrades but nothing to compromise the reliability and some winter tires. The Taco is also super practical for people that don't have a huge trailer to pull. You get all the positives of having a truck but none of the fuel costs or space restrictions.

I own a 2002 WRX manual and a 2016 Taco TRD Sport AC manual. I was planning on selling the WRX when I bought the Taco but couldn't bring myself to do it. Plus, parking a new vehicle in a ski resort parking lot that's filled with Texans in rental cars is a recipe for disaster!

Looking to get into a 3rd Gen Sport AC with a 6 speed. Coming from a 2011 WRX wagon. I refuse to drive an auto transmission and the tacoma has the reliability and resale value I'm looking for.
All of my hobbies include driving deep into the mountains and the subarus incredibly long nose makes for a tough drive obviously.

Love the subie to death but the squeaks and rattles drive me insane. Looking for versatility and a usable bed space too since I move for work every 6 months.

Not to mention 2nd and 3rd Gen tacos look spectacular.

I love that this is a thread topic. Had a 2011 Sti and loved it but something about the 3rd Gen Tacoma I couldn't resist. Let alone I needed a truck for the new house.
Bought my wife a 2011 Wrx Hatch to cope with.
I think wrx/sti people are naturally drawn to the Tacoma's.
