NO, you pay taxes to where you register the car. Bought my Tacoma in VA but am registering it in OR. OR has no sales tax.

Everyone keeps posting prices without listing options like premium and tech pckg with or without JBL, tonneau, etc. etc.
If you specifically list EVERYTHING that was included with your truck it will help readers get a realistic idea about pricing... which I think was the point of this thread?

Ok guys, below is the price I was quoted from Koons Toyota Arlington, VA and my contact is Christian Johnson...
I told him the exact package I want.

    TRD OR Inferno 4x4 Double Cab A/T 5 ft bed - $33,370
Tech Package with JBL - $3,035
    Tow Package - $650
    Cast Running Boards - $795.
    Total: $38,210

After telling him those are the packages I want without the prices from Toyota website... He replied back to email with his "manager" price:

Market Value: $37,819 (Yes, I did ask him if this is MRSP of all the packages I had told him)
Sales Price: $34,432 (Yes, he said this is their "offer price.")
Processing Fee: $599 (their dealer processing fee is less than other dealer, I was quoted $900 from others?)
    Taxes: $2,170.72
    Tag Fees Est. $309

Balance Remaining: $37,510.72 (OTD price confirmed)

I emailed him back to double check, cause his numbers don't match mine.. One thing I don't want is being lied to....

I've never heard of someone who had an email agreement that wasn't honored. Just go in with that... either print it out or on your phone and ask that they honor the agreement.
    I think you'll be alright.
    Keep us posted.

Basic truck. SR Access cab, LB, 4 cyl. M/T 4x4 with SR convenience package, 16" alloys, hitch receiver and ball, all-weather mats and door sill protectors. $26,200. Not the high end taco, but is basically identical to my '04 which has given me 220k miles with no problems whatsoever. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I hate to say it, but I knew where he was going.. This is his response when I told him to double check his price.

I apologize for the mix up. That truck did not have the JBL Speakers. Attached is a truck that we can get from one of our sister dealerships that has everything that you are looking for and more.

If this is something that you would be good with getting then I can work up pricing for you. If not then we can do a special build for you. That would take a couple of months to get in though. Whatever you wish to do we can do.

Then he attached an "incoming truck," with all the following packages:

    TRD OR Inferno 4x4 Double Cab A/T 5 ft bed - $33,370
Tech Package with JBL - $3,035
    Tow Package - $650
    Tonneau Cover - $650
    Cast Running Boards - $795
    Bed Mat - $120
Four Season Floor Mat Package - $309
    TRD Air Filter - $90

    Total Optional Equipment: $5,649
Vehicle Base Model: $33,730 (Toyota site shows $33,370, not sure if this is typo from dealer end or trying to bump prices up)
    Delivery Processing fee: $900
    Total MSRP: $40,279

I emailed him back and asked him what will his offer be for this "Truck." I want to see if it'll even come close to what he said to me before.

So much over-priced fluff. The floor mats are listed at double. Running boards are 400$. The air filter is bullshit. In my opinion you should walk and try another dealer. That's the same crap they tried with me. I ended up getting everything and no fluff for 38500

Looks like he originally gave you a price for an exact truck that you wanted. They didn't have it in stock so you could have it built and wait for it... for the price you want.
The main BS about this guy is going back to MSRP after you've already negotiated price.
If this doesn't work out, I'd give him a piece of my mind and inform him that I'm going to use his and the dealerships name on every online review forum I can find.

Using the Consumer Reports/Truecar service ($30 a year for Consumer Reports subscription) I got a local dealer qoute for my options and model of MSRP $33,554, minus $970 participating delaer discount, plus a $270 Factory-installed option discount. for a total of $32,314.
I printed the offer with the dealer name and took it to a competing dealer about 10 miles away, who called it "challenging" then was willing to lower it by $200 more. Plus his doc fees were $299 when first dealer was $349.
I also asked for a tonneau and he added it for $579 which he claimed was invoice price. Not sure it that's true nor not.
So I got $1440 below MSRP total on a new order, and maybe a couple dollars on the tonneau.
Does this sound like a decent deal? Is this similar to what other people are getting?

Barcellona red SR5 access cab, V6, 4x4, with tow package, tonneau, black & red interior, DN appearance package that includes navigation, parking sonar, silver alloy wheels, and floor mats. MSRP = $33,554 plus cost of tonneau.

But my point was $1440 below MSRP, is that similar to what most people here are paying? More? Less?
