8-10" is ideal. All powder us burned by 8" or so.

Can't really help ya on prebuilt ones though. I bought mine. I'd imagine any will come threaded 5/8x24

I'm nowhere near as versed in 6.8 as Brett but this is my .02

6.8 is a longer range cartridge than the 300 BLK (As I'm sure you know), most SBR 6.8 builds I see are 12.5", great performance at out to 400 yards (Possibly further), with a 12.5" barrel you can shoot the 120GR hornady loads and still achieve 2500+ FPS.

If you want a super quiet SBR (With a can of course) than go with the 300, if you want 200 yd or farther performance I'd go with the 6.8.
As far as I know there are very very few subsonic rounds for the 6.8 whereas you can walk into most gun shops (Around here anyway) and find 300 BLK subs.

I've had this b4 as well.
Just get some roll pins from a hardware store they will probably be long.
I just installed then cut it down w a dremel

6.8 isn't for me, but just was an option as I have this .30 cal can in my world now.[/QUOTE]

Man 300 blk subsonic suppressed is legit awesome.
If it doesn't cycle don't be afraid to take off the gas block and drill the gas port to 1/8"

300blk was kinda designed for a can (codesigned by AAC and Rem) with ballistic performance of 7.62x39 (supersonic) but more AR friendly than an x39 upper.

6.8 was designed as an intermediate round between 223 and 308.

If you want something to use with your can and don't handload, 300blk since as @95 taco said you can find subsonics just as easily as supersonics

Check ebay for the small parts too. Just a quick look gets you 12 roll pin's for ~3 bucks shipped which isnt bad at all.

But i fell for the original guy. Nothing worse than building an upper and dropping the pin and losing it. So last brownells order i added in a bunch of the common roll pins so i dont have to worry about it anymore.

Speaking of which if he still needs one PM me and i can mail one out

Yup 300blk is just a different barrel. Everything else is the same.

Its one of the advantages over other calibers that require different magazines and bolts too. THough for bolts ive never cared to much since each upper gets its own BCG anyways for me

I love my 300. I've been swapping it with the 5.56 on my SBR lower for about a year. I decided to dedicate it a lower to it so there is a form 1 pending. I looked at Radical but the reviews were too mixed. I decided to build. I agree to dedicate a BCG, it will marry up better with the barrel lugs as it gets broken in.

Ammo is starting to get affordable. If you don't reload try Ozark, I've shot over 1500 rounds of their subs and it rocks.

I have a X39 radical upper and I like it. It's 7.5in, also have a buddy with their 10.5 .223 that shoots well. Had some shipping fiasco with it originally though
