Sixth gear is a usable overdrive although it could probably be a git higher. With 265/75r16 I run at 2500rpm@75. It is a nice usable rpm range for some power still but could be a little higher for better MPG. I have not paid attention to what RPM are at 75 in 5th. I would guess around 2850 or so. I have found backing a trailer is not the easiest in reverse. I wish it was lower.

    1. Not bad, among the lighter truck clutches I've used, but my sample includes a lot of 2.5 and 5 ton trucks so my view may be a bit skewed. On par with my last Subaru, heavier than most sports cars I've driven. I don't find it taxing, but I almost never do regardless of vehicle. Throws aren't very long for a truck, URD already has a short throw kit out but IMO losing 44% (IIRC) or throw might bring things too close for this truck. It's nothing like the crazy truck throws of something like the big Fords of as recently as a decade ago.

    2. There is no height adjustment. As with previous Toyota pickups, not everyone fits, but it's usually the tall people with long torsos that are left out. My 5'1" mother did just fine when she was visiting recently aside from needing a footstool to get in (unlifted).

    3. I spent an hour back there a week ago. Not great but not terrible either, if I was forced into the back on a regular basis I'd probably insist on a full size and no longer give a shit about the manual. Taking a 4k mile road trip with two other adults in a few months, not really dreading the prospect. I think we'll be fine with regular Chinese fire drills.

well when i built it it was pretty much just a play vehicle i didnt need it for much other than weekend dicking around and since i built it up so big i was wearing out and breaking parts left and right to the point of replacing almost every component on my front axle. thats what happens when you run hard on 37s and stock axles. I didnt mind fixing and working on it but it was also my daily driver and i moved to an area where i wasnt using it on the weekends so i had enough and sold it i needed a better daily driver and something toned down since im not doing the type of offroading i was in CO

Let me ask a question that may seem a bit off-topic to some, but I think applies.
Its about clutch pedal feel. I am an old timer and been owning manuals since the 1960's. I generally like manuals better, for most the same reasons that most of you do.
But my 2013 Tacoma 4cly- 5speed changed my mind. The tranny itself was excellent, and fun to drive, but the clutch feel was awful. I pinned it down not to the clutch itself, but the use by Toyota of a non-linear (like almost everybody used --forvever) to a torsion return spring. I take it the idea was to make the pedal effort feel less when the clutch pedal was all the way down, (the torsion spring acted to pull the pedal UP in about the first half of the throw, act actually pull it DOWN in the last half of the throw. Clutch feel was just awful and eventually led me to trading in the 2013 for another vehicle. It was that bad to me.
AM I just getting old and feeble, or has the 2016 changed from my 2013..? My dealer has not had any manuals in, but I'll try one when they do. My 2016 is an Auto. Its fine (i use manual mode), but miss the stick..

Love manuals. My 06 Tacoma Access SR5 4wd was my first automatic, never again! No redeeming qualities.

The clutch feel is probably very similar to your 2013. I posted a few pictures earlier in this thread that shows under the dash and the clutch mechanism.

I have an Off Road AC in 6MT. Did they stop making this configuration?

I absolutely love MT. The transmission does what I tell it to do. I'm really not a fan of modern slushboxes - too much gear hunting.

The only thing I hate about the MT is my left heel has worn a hole through every floor mat I've tried.

AC V6 4x4 with manual is Sport trim only, DCSB V6 4x4 with manual is Off Road only. I wish they had a DCLB in either trim with manual.

This is a dying bread. Doubt any trucks in 5 years will be offered in MT - even the Taco. We have the last of the Meheecans! (For those that watch southpark you'll understand that reference....:))
Love mine though. Very happy i went to MT this time around. Especially after hearing the same gripes from 3 rd gen owners as I had on my 2nd gen. The AT likes to hunt.

New truck is so smooth though I'm tempted not to molest the drive train or tires in any way shape or form... it's just too good. Love 6th gear on the highway. Actually usable for passing. Every other manual I've driven it's ratio was just for cruise.

One gripe though : Going from 2-3 gear I find it a bit notchy. Almost like I need to double pump the clutch to get in to go in smoother.
    Anyone else have similar issue?

1-2 and 2-1 are very notchy for me. But third almost jumps into gear with no effort, as does, 4 5 and 6.
