Calling for much the same thing here this coming week. Go figure....It's been in the 60's and even a few days in the 70's here. My suspension parts are here tomorrow, so it's single digit lows, snow, and misery. The garage is packed full and I will NOT put my Camaro outside to work on the truck. Guess I'll wait until it warms up again.

A buddy of mine was stationed at Minot AFB, he said the gift shop at the airport sold t-shirts that said "Minot ND...-40degrees keeps the rif-raf out"

I'm with Buzzbait...I think I'm gonna buy one at the end of the season for next year. I'm running out of room in my shed but I think I can squeezed one in there between the bikes and my lawn tractor.

I'm with you all the way... autumn and spring all the way. I'm still on the search for the perfect weather spot for retirement, moderate temps year around. I'm thinking it will take two homes, one in the upper midwest from April thru October and one in the desert SW or deep south from October thru April.

I was always thankful the USAF did not send me there in my 23 years. Of course, they did send me to Blythville, AR... not sure which is worse, frigid cold in an isolated area or absolute miserable heat in an isolated area.

After my fun and relaxing intro to the Army @ Ft Benning in the winter, I spent most of the next 3-1/2 years in sunny, beautiful Ft Sill Oklahoma. That place could be muddy AND dusty at the same time.

Spent two years in the mid 90s just up the road at Tinker AFB in OKC. I'm sure that's a better assignment than Ft Sill but not by a lot. Friggin summers are miserable there ! And wind is terrible all rear around. That was in my golfing days and I can remember many days using a driver on a short par 3 or hitting a pitching wedge 170 yards.

My claim to fame @ Sill was, and may still be, having Lawton Okl declared off limits to military personal. There may still be wanted posters of me hanging in Lawton Police station....

Hahaha.... you should have been a Marine. Being stationed around them was always interesting. Those boys can raise some hell ! Of course, the Army guys weren't far behind. In the early 80s, they were having a rash of DUIs involving military people in the Kaiserslautern, Germany, area... mostly Army. So at the NCO Club, they installed a breathalizer machine so the patrons could check themselves when they leave the club. Well, those ornery Army guys started having contests to see who could blow the higher number. And then they would attempt to drive home.

We trained Marine artillery units on the range @ Sill. They were instrumental in the story of how we were all banned from Lawton. Those boys just couldn't take a joke! ;)

I like the change of seasons. We're originally from NJ, so I've dealt with the cold and snow. It's just that I moved to VB to get away from most of it. It's OK if it's a little cooler, as long as it's sunny. This cloudy, damp, dreary weather is what drives me nuts. We get some humidity here, but overall, the summer is pretty nice. Usually a good breeze off the ocean. And of course, the "scenery" is much nicer when it's warmer, if you get my drift. :D

    This literally made me LOL.

VB is an awesome area and I can only think of a handful of places in the country that would be more awesome for a permanent residence. And yeah, the scenery there in the summer is fantastic ! :D

We do like the area. Lot's to do and everything is very convenient to get to. Our son's are here, both are VBFD. That's why we moved here when I retired. Although there are times when they annoy me that I tell them their Mom and I are going to enter the witness protection program so they don't know where we are, lol. We're in a good neighborhood, so I shouldn't complain. Cost of living is creeping up a bit. No where near as bad as NJ was, but I'm sure we're going to "downsize" sometime in the future. Just don't know if it will be here or somewhere else. The wife and I just came back from visiting friends in FL. While we were there we took a quick tour of The Villages. Pretty nice place. We'll see.

Don't mind my complaining, I'm just being a "cranky almost old guy".

Hope you shake the crud once and for all, and that I do too :-( Ready to go back to bed and I just got up again. Great advice on the pool table, I think anyone that has ever moved one has said never again. I know I do.

Actually they grow them sweet, smart and well grounded all over the country. I just can't seem to find the one for me LOL. I really should start looking I am surrounded by them for goodness sakes. But yeah there are some goddesses walking around up here and a lot of them have heart.

The 2 guys that started Davidson River Outfitters did it while I was living there, glad to hear they are still doing well! They were engineers at the Dupont X-Ray silver film plant outside of Brevard and left secure jobs to do what they loved. Sounds like it paid off more than 20 years later they are still in business. Yep there are so many streams to fish there, done a lot of them but could spend a lifetime getting to really know them well. At one time I knew almost every rock from the Outfitters up to the fish hatchery on the Davidson.

My Ex in laws lived in the Villages for several years. Seemed pretty good to me! Lots of social activities everyday and discount trips including cruises. I remember watching the VHS tape on it when they first sent off for it LOL. They ended up moving out eventually but they really were not set financially for the move and retirement in general to be honest. They made some bad decisions, if it wasn't for that they would likely still be there.
