    @SpaceTaco @IPNPULZ

    I live a few miles away from JSC, and nearby there used to be this little shack of a burger place that was frequented by NASA personnel & astronauts since JSC's inception. The walls were covered in memorabilia and knickknacks dating back to the genesis of our space program. Unfortunately, as NASA's budget kept getting smaller and smaller, so did the crowd. When the Shuttle program died, so did the burger place, and within a year it was bulldozed. All that is left are the memories.

    That's freaking cool, but dealing with snow, ice, sub zero wind? No thanks. Come to west Texas and just deal with heat.

    Lol good point. I love west Texas though; in the small chance I live long enough to reach retirement, I'd like to settle out in west Texas somewhere. Not Midland/Odessa though. Wouldn't want to deal with the schizophrenic oil field-based economy out there.

    that aint no lie! I would retire round Alpine. Easy access to big bend, El paso or midland/odessa but you are far enough away from the crazy shit.

    Alpine is a great location for exactly the reasons you stated. Been wanting to bring the wife and take another road trip out that way for awhile now.

    I wouldn't mind settling around Abilene or Amarillo either. They're obviously much further north with the latter being in the panhandle, but surrounded by beautiful country nonetheless.

    Hahaha thanks man. I'm a born and raised Vermonter so the cold I can deal with. The thing is, you can dress up for the cold, but you can't dress down for the heat.

    It's funny because I finished up my wind schooling at TSTC and lived in TX for 2 months and applied to several jobs there. Thankfully I didn't get any of them, or else the heat probably would have killed me.

    Despite growing up in Minnesota, I'm sure I'd feel the same about living up in Vermont and dealing with the weather. Beautiful state though. :)

    Pretty cool you went to TSTC in Waco. I've known a few folks who went there and they seemed pretty solid. There is also another TW member who attended TSTC for welding.

    Dont go to either of them places! Amarillo constantly smells like a dairy farm because of all the Farms around that area, and is just a crapass city. Abilene is a pure shit hole, nothing else needs to be said. If you wanna settle out that way, you should look into Graham or Wichita Falls, hell Vernon possibly.

    If yall roll out to Apline or something that way, Hollar at us! We will glady jump in the truck here in the DFW metroplex and head out for a trip!
