People down here don't know what it is so I think I'll be alright. I don't go into bad areas anyways. But once I'm out of the apartment life this year I'll leave mine off

haha that's mine! Details somewhere in my build lol

    Edit: here it is

Painted exhaust clamps with velcro on the inside (to prevent metal to metal contact), longer bolts for 3 of the exhaust clamps, and for this bracket, 2 eyebolts - but one turned 90* because the Bolt lock (which is keyed alike to the truck) only has a 2" shackle

I like it a lot. They are all the same man. My friend has an ARB awning, smaller than mine. Everything identical, except the price.

For security if you were really worried i would use security fasteners. Least that way regular tools wont work on it.

But any thief ive seen hasnt bothered with tools but prefers a sawzall or grinder to which nothing within reason is going ot stop.

so your awning is attached to your roof right? hmm thats interesting...how long is your awning? It seems to come out quite a bit past the windshield..I like the setup though, because with an awning and walls/screens, its pretty much an annex right there, so you dont have to have the tent over cab height ( save on MPG and high weight), and I wont need an annex because the awning will be one. plus i would save money on the annex....interesting!! yea curious to know how long your awning is

    The awning is Smittybilt model# 2787, it measures 6.5' x 6.5' Link: http://www.smittybilt.com/downloads/SB_Tent-Awning_NPA_35.pdf and accommodates the ARB Awnining room model # ARB4411A, it measures 78.75" x 82.75" Link: http://www.autoanything.com/roof-racks/arb-awning-room

I'm 71" tall. I cannot stand straight up under my RTT, but we do put chairs under the RTT and relax in the shade. The bottom of my tent measures about four inches below the top of the cab roof. I have a Prinsu Design Studio bed rack and top rack. My awning is attached to the top rack and with my lift, the height of my awning is about 74". There is a group buy starting for the racks. Here is the link: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...dio-roof-rack-gb-february-26-march-11.411053/ I hope this helps you out a bit. If you have questions please ask. Love to help TW members. Your right about the annex. This is why I went this route with the awning and room. We use it exactly like an Annex. There is the drawback of when it rains you get a little wet from RTT to the Awning room, but hey, a little roughness doesn't hurt anyone.

Hey everyone, mind if I couple of questions? This is something I want to get into.

First, anyone done a Tepui Ayer on a Pack Rack? Looking for a nice set up for myself and the special someone and don't want to break the bank, being in college and all.

Also, my leafs are basically flat. I don't want too much lift. Anyone have a new spring setup? Don't want more than 1.5", but don't want to flatten another leaf pack (looking at a 5 Dakar pack) or bust a bead with too much weight.

    Thanks y'all!

I have an Ayer and it's great for me plus one person comfortable. Truck can only have 2 people so why get more than that for a tent

That 5 pack is a good idea and see where you like after you install it. As far as the Ayer goes I'm not a big fan. Slept in one with my best friend and it's a little tight. Although my kukenam isn't much bigger it certainly feels that way. But still a little more expensive.

Thanks for the input! Assuming it'll just clamp to a pack rack?

Couple of thoughts that happened for me on my way to the RTT life:

Some tents have 1/2"ish poles doing most of the supporting, and some tents have more of a 7/8"ish poles. That translates to added durability for me.

I asked a very reputable off road fabricator (who I'm not going to mention, because he does some awesome work) if there was any way I could have his popular bed bars made with an added 4" of height, and if I could get them not 2 months out. answer was no. so I looked up welder (not off road fabrication because some things I feel require that level of expertise i.e. roll cages, bumpers etc. just not bed bars) found a company called lawn mowers etc. in Dana Point CA. Nocked it out in 1 week for about half of the price (and while the front of the shop has a bunch of yard care equipment, the shop had 3 trophy trucks being race prepped).

The height of my bed bars rocks (sorry no exact measurement, just the demo bar + 4")as far as practicality. not a bunch of drag from being above the cab, but I can still see out of my rear view mirror, and have 4" more height in my bed for my crap

I Love my CVT )got it from goose gear designs)except the old lady wants to take about 3' of the 4' width even though she's nowhere near 3' wide.

cons for the tent: I somewhat miss having my shell (first-gen) because they don't flap in the wind and are relatively impermeable to moisture

Pros for the tent: room to put dirty truck things like firewood and shovels, doesn't make your entire truck a somewhat indoor (keep it clean) environment

Anyways heres my first day I threw it on picture at the barracks, and then a little bro trip for the 4th up to big bear(broverlanding). the white truck has the bed bars that the manufacturer wouldn't make 4" taller, for comparison.

hey does anybody have the measurements of the length of an annex for an RTT? like length from where the annex would connect to RTT, and to the ground ( taking into consideration that the annex isnt crumpled on bottom, but is pretty much straight down?) couldnt find that anywhere on sites, wondering if anyone could measure!

I believe it is around 6' to 61/2' for the ideal height.

These look awesome. To those that have a RTT, what are the big advantages over traditional tent camping? I'm trying to sell the wife ;)
