I was thinking that but when my truck isn't in the garage, it's only in a few parking lots. My work parking lot is monitored. I probably derped and didn't tighten correctly. Just checked the other wheels. (and WTF happened to my sig? V)

Your shafts are pitting even with the gap facing toward the rear?

Holy fawk  your seals must be absolutely shredded, you need to get new shafts and rebuild those babies. You guys that are having this problem so bad should pick up some of these :

*You can get non branded ones cheaper too from places like ORW

Seals are fine. Just the tiny bit of surface rust on the bottom where the shaft never enters the body. Unless I'm missing something. That's not oil build up.

Rotate the upper collar till the spring flops around and you'll be able to rotate the cup without spring compressors

Bro...that part of the shaft absolutely enters the body...otherwise you would have a 2" stroke CO. Those raised lower coil seats are hollow because the shock body goes down inside it.

If you don't fully stuff the suspension that part of the shaft doesn't get used.

How does it enter the body when it's below the cup? Cup just disappears?

Now I follow. Read the end of your post. I haven't had an issue and I haven't stuffed that far. At full stuff where my tires hit my inner fender well.

O.k I hate to go all Jberry on you guys with math and geometry and science and stuff but your forcing my hand here o_O

That lower coil seat is hollow and I bet that part of the shaft is used more than you think...you're not exactly a mall crawler . A stock length front end has roughly a 1.9 : 1 ratio which means for every 1" of shock stroke ( let's just round it off ) you get 2" of travel at the wheel. A stock length arm set up CO has approx 4.5" - 5" of stroke to achieve 9 ish inches of travel.

Now, that lower coil seat is a 2" extended coil seat and with only 4 ish inches of stroke total you are probably using that part of the shaft more than you think...unless you are just a mall crawler :boink:

    See my Sig. :p.

Looking at the dirt on mine I'd say all but the last half inch has been used, but I also haven't found the front bump stops yet.

No you're right. I honestly don't believe I've hit that part of the shaft. I definitely wheel it and at high speeds but don't know if I've come in contact to that spot. No leaks yet from any possible damage if I did hit the seal. But it will be addressed when I get them rebuilt.
