I'm more than likely going to have to wait though. I'm wanting a rear HC more than the rack

Priorities! Funny how they carry from rig to rig. The racks in my case were an absolute necessity and get used pretty much daily.

I think it's one of those things that once you have it you find uses for it. I had a full load of wood up there yesterday and a kayak and paddle the day before. I use it like a truck bed pretty much haha

^^ This. People think when you get a cap you can no longer load large items in he bed, which may be true but almost anything can be strapped down to the roof racks.

Exactly!! I've never been limited to what I can fit in or on my truck. Plus people who say that have prob never had a shell and prob don't have any scratches in their bed hahaha

I was just telling a local buddy who's debating a cap, possibly soft topper, that I just drove to New Hampshire in 6 hours of rain and all my gear including fridge in the bed was untouched from the elements. Also at a few stops I'm able to lock it all up for security. While there one morning 5" of snow fell and once again all my gear was untouched. The best part is as safe and secure a cap makes your gear, you can still throw in a muddy pair of boots or icy tarp and worry bout it later. I use to have several chainsaws and carry gas cans in the bed, once again my stuff remained out of the elements and was secure from theft. I can go on and on...

I'll never have a truck without a cap again! They're so versatile! Can't haul my bike anymore, but a trailer is in the works..

I loved my cap except for 3 main reasons..
    1) put my RTT too high, cog issues, wind resistance etc..
    2) I was always afraid of smacking it into a tree. A lot of Trails here in the nw are super tight, I can pop a dent out of the bed side but it would ruin an expensive canopy.
    3) as it did keep things dry/secure it still got dusty and wet inside. The holes at the bottom of the tail gate let in tons of dust (literally everything was coated in a layer) and water would come in, not be able to dry since I keep my truck outside, and mold and fungus began to grow.

Other than those reasons I liked it.

    1) offroad trailer.....
    2) offroad trailer.....
    3) have to be selective as to what you put back there. If I want it truely sealed and protected I always put in some type of container. This also helps keep things organized. I really like these Plano containers for traveling. I have 3. My wife gets an entire one to herself . One is for camping gear and miscellaneous. And one acts as a pantry (dry food, utensils, cleaning stuff, kitchen stuff, whatever else). Works pretty well because if I need to unload my truck it is as easy as pulling all of these containers out and they are still self contained and protected.

Huh, I'm thinking the gaps for mine may be a hair bigger than stock because I was rear ended in a parking garage and the place said my passenger side bed side was pushed forward a little. They "fixed it" which I think they pulled something back to far. But not sure.
But yeah mold was growing on my tailgate and fungus in the carpet of the canopy
