Hello again... Im looking for a replacement transfer case since I can not get mine to work. Looking at ebay, I have found some i believe will work. However they are listed as ADD and differential lock. My truck is a '97 3.4L 5 speed with manual hubs and a manual transfer case. What I dont understand is what the difference would be in the t-case for ADD vs manual hubs? Can anyone here help me understand?

    Thanks,
    Mike

All i can say is a.d.d. means automatic disconnecting differential. And im not aure if the following info will be useful.

I know my 2000 trd has auto disconnecting "hubs" and when in 2wheel drive i can spin the axle that goes from the x-fer case to the front diff freely.

Perhaps there's an extra sensor/switch that is used as a redundancy check to engage 4 hi/low (for my kind of auto setup) that isn't needed on manual hub setups?

From what I have gathered, as long as the transfer case is for a V6 5 speed transmission it should work. Now for my next question, The case i am looking at has the electronic speedometer plug in it. Is it possible for me to put the mechanical plug in it from the transfer case I currently have?

I have swapped a cable driven speed sensor and electronic one on my 2.7 before. I had to disassemble the sensor and swap the spindles and speedo gears from one to the other - the spindle is a different length on the mechanical one than on the electronic.

If the T-case you're looking at doesn't work out, I have one for sale in WNC.

on my 96 the add transfer case has 2 electrical connectors that bolt into the left side of the case. on the transfer case I have off a manual hub truck those connectors aren't there, instead theres just 2 bolts plugging the holes. Im pretty sure those will swap over because im convinced they are used to actuate the ADD when you shift into 4wd

Yes sir, you are correct. I have installed the new T-case since I last posted. It arrived with just two plugs up high on the left side of the case. I removed one plug and installed my 4wd dash light switch from my old case. Everything is good now and I can go just about anywhere again :)

So the 2 plugs will bolt up? Concerned since I've gotta swap trans and transfer case also

My truck is set up with a manual J-shift transfer case. I also have manual locking hubs, not ADD. So I only needed one of the plugs, which was just so the dash light would come on in 4x4. If your front hubs are automatic (ADD) you will need the actuator on the back of the transfer case and use the other plug.
