works great for the air mattress pump and battery trickle charger. The plug works great for camping situations. if you look at the size of the wires running to the plug, you'll understand why they applied a current limit

Thank you.Not real sharp on electricity.Never thought of it that way.Idea abandoned.Would it be a bad idea to charge camper battery from charger hooked to inverter when unhooked from truck, and if so,why?

The trailer battery needs to be isolated from the truck 12V system. If you've done that, then you should be fine to charge it with a charger powered from the inverter.

I'm thinking of using this as a power source for a small chest freezer (3 amps) while camping out moose hunting. Would be nice to be able to make some ice when you're off the grid. Plus I might be able to freeze some fish the day it was caught...

you'll need to run the engine to make that much power, or do the mod for 400 watts anytime.

Just planning to iddle for an hour or so at camp, maybe morning and evening. A freezer will not thaw in 12 hours when it's 50 outside. Or if it does, I'll just call it a cooler...:p

Haven't used it YET but the wife and I do outdoor movies on the projector and plan on setting up and plugging in. Projector has an 85watt draw, so we could get about a 4 hour movie out of the battery without killing it dead.

Tried using it with circular saw once, with the truck running, did not work well to say the least. My fault for not reading the manual. Wish it was a legitimate power source for real tools. I guess I'll appreciate it more when its done how it should be. Someday....

Used it two days ago. Power went out at the office, told it'll be a couple hours to come back on. Important document on the desktop that I needed to access for a meeting off-site. Pull the truck around to the window, run an extension cord from the truck to the computer and power up computer, save document to flash drive, day saved.

You could look for cheap Chinese generators for that. They sip gas at an alarmingly slow rate and are very quiet.
Lol why did you buy the tow package lmao if you aren't going to use it rofl you should remove the inverter to save weight lmaorofl

After reading the posts in this thread, I'm thinking I'll just get one of those Honda portable generators.

Sure. But where is the fun in that? I already have the truck anyway, it's worth a try.
Oh, and talk to me about those chinese generators reliability...o_O

Best small generator is the Honda E2000. Quiet, but not cheap. Can run them in tandem if needed. You can even get it adapted to run on Propane.

It's probably what I'd use, but some people like the Yamaha's better as they are supposedly a little more flexible and a little bit cheaper.

Did this the other day. Wanted to fit an 8' inside the cover so chopped in in half using a circular saw plugged into the outlet. It wasn't very powerful but got the job done.

The little Honda units are awesome! Super reliable. Impressive and well worth the money. Just wish Toyota would come out with one lol!
