You can do tahuya stock. Just have to be a bit careful in spots. But go slow and be careful and you'll be fine.

 

Tahuya is either really easy or cv breakingly hard. Mostly easy though, can be a lot of flexing. Stock trucks can do it

 

that's what I thought. Diff breather mod would be good for the puddles. I heard they are getting deep but you can avoid them from what I remember.

 

I have heard of more carnage at Tahuya than any other PNW location (I haven't been to TSF or Evans creek yet):

1. Will's driveshaft folded like tinfoil.
2. Benson hydrolock = new engine.
3. someones rear diff ate itself.
4. Jon on NWOL decided to flood his interior in the little puddles.
5. my first time there, my buddy folded a steelie on an upward trail just south of the steep rock garden (I have it on Gopro )

I am not saying Tahuya isn't easy; it is deceptive and will bite.

I agree, while the Loop Trail itself is very tame - the pre-conceived notion that it is an "easy" area sometimes prompts people to "GO HARD" in an attempt to make it more interesting or challenging, and usually some carnage is close behind.

 

I got water over my hood, and my truck hasnt sounded the same since. Still runs fine tho.

 

Probably one of your pulleys (A/C, fan clutch, idler, accys etc.)

The bearings do not like getting water in them and can squeal/chirp/grind if they do. Minor annoyance, but easily replaceable if/when needed.

After I replaced my engine, I also had to replace my Starter and A/C Clutch pulley due to water/mud damage.

Thanks Benson! Ill check that out asap. Its be gettig better. the first couple days after Tahuya i thought i was driving a ricer car, it sounded very high pitched when i rev'd the engine

Saw this setup in my research, bit expensive for what you get but it's all there. Sure a hell lot simpler than the overly engineered setup I had been scheming up.
