I suppose I should have posted the build, but I always forget to take pics during the process. Hope these help.

 

New, 25w radio. Fit perfectly where the ash tray normally goes. Don't keep anything in it anyways, since it likes to slide open and eject all of its contents as soon as i leave pavement.

 

More details please, what kind of radio?

Popped ou the ash tray, unscrewed its mounting track from the dash trim, and screwed the radio bracket that came with the radio into the two factory holes. Literally just used a #2 Phillips for the while install.

Popped the spades out of the supplied power cord and inserted them into one of the 9000 12v sockets.

It's like it was designed to be a Toyota specific bracket.

When I go back and wire it to my sPod, I'll take better pictures of where it's mounted etc.

I should, not sure where to get started though...

 

On a separate note, I think I need a ujoint. Might just drop the whole driveshaft off at a local driveline place and have all of them changed.

 

I've been studying so I can go get mine. Not really concerned over the legality of being on the radio, more so just so I know how the thing works...

 

I used a website called HamTestOnline. Check out https://www.hamradiolicenseexam.com/ Great site, lots of info there. It'll cost you $25 for a 2 year access license. Just start taking practice tests. There is no limit to how many you can take. You'll get it down without too much time spent. I used it for 3-4 weeks when I had and extra 20 minutes here and there. When I started consistantly scoring in the 90% range, I went to a local ham club that administers the exam.

 

Sounds good, I'll do that. What HAM club did you go to, I live pretty close to you in the summer so its probably close enough for me.

I went to a place in Renton, it was a club named Mike and Key Amateur Radio Club that managed the exam.
