if u actually read the other people's responses, u'd see that the vast majority dont care about wearing them for casual use, it's when they portray themselves as something they are not. it is against the law just like impersonating a police officer, so apparently someone else thought it wasnt a bullshit request

people buying things w/o the intent of swindling people into thinking they are military isnt a problem. at the same time, they shouldnt be running around w/ rank on their sleeves, lapels, epaulets, etc

I am active duty in the Navy. I have served in Afghanistan working with the Army, I have served overseas for half of my enlisted career and I can honestly say that I don't care one way or the other if someone wants to wear the uniform if they haven't served. We are in AMERICA. Do whatever it is your little heart desires.

I for one can't wait to take the thing off when I get home from work. I would much rather wear jeans and a t shirt. If someone needs to "pose" and wear the uniform in order to get praise or free drinks, then honestly I feel sorry for them. Not discontent, not aggression, just pity.

I serve because I believe in ones right to be free to choose what they want to wear, or say, or publish, or do whatever it is that makes them happy. That is what this country stands for. It's what the military is for. To protect our individual freedoms.

On another note, I am so glad I am in the Navy because that no drinking in uniform that the Army has going for it is for the birds.

That couple is twisted. I would expect it from younger kids who aren't able to enlist or are too scared, but the more I've read about this stuff since reading this thread the more it does bother me.

I still feel the same about everyone having the right do what they want as long as they are within the confines of the law, but people wearing a uniform that they haven't earned is more widespread than I could have imagined.

I do remember when I was attending my "A" school years ago that a kid in another school had gone home in a CPO uniform on his leave. There was an article written about him in his little hometown paper about how fast he made rank and what amazing things he was doing. Needless to say, that article was how he got caught. Pretty sure he lost what little rank he had.

Here's what happened to me Tues night.

I was TDY to FT Meade MD and was staying off post at a hotel. I was coming back from visiting a friend of mine who is at Walter Reed. It was around 2015 and as I went up the driveway to the hotel a guy comes out of nowhere flagging me down. He was waiving around a set of dog tags so I stopped.

He said that he was CPT So and So and that he saw the govenrment plates on my vehicle and needed help. He said that he was with the 173rd out of Bragg and that he and some of his guys had just came back from Iraq and was up here for a PTSD screening at Walter Reed. He said that they had locked the keys in their van and needed help. So far so good right???

I asked him if anyone had AAA and they could call them to get the keys out. He said that they had a van with special locks and that the lock smith couldn't get it open. I said okay, what do you want me to do. He asked if I could give him a ride to the USO downtown Baltimore. I asked if he had an ID card and he said that it was locked inside the van.

We then talked a little more and then I asked him what was his Branch. He said "Army". I said, I know that but what Branch are you? Again he says, "Army". I asked him one more time and then he said, "Oh, you mean what is my "MOS"? I said, "Yea, something like that". He then said his MOS was 11B and I said, "Okay, I can't help you" and pulled off.

During our conversation he actually talked a really good game. He had the terminology and acronyms down but it was the last paragraph that put him away. I won't go into details but any Army guys on here, especially Officers will get it.

    Come on!!!! Halloween!!!
Halloween is fine in fact I would think it would be a honor to know that people all over the country are dressing like you because they look up to you. Now on normal night posing as someone you are not for personal gain does piss me off.
