I received my ashtray and retainer ring today for my 08. I figure this will be a nice holder for my garage door remote. Anyway, the retainer ring (which is really a little cap for the bottom of the cup) is so tight going into the hole that the cup will only sit down in the hole about an inch. Anybody else have this problem and figure out a way to solve it?

Looks like I’ll be answering my own question.

First the retainer ring is worthless so you might as well save your $2.70. I used a piece of rubber from one of my mountain bike inner tubes. I wrapped this around the upper part of the cup then taped it on with electrical tape. You can see the top edge of the rubber in the picture. The cup now fits perfectly in the hole. The cup is slightly too small for the remote which means the lid sits on it. This is actually perfect because it will keep the remote from rattling around in the cup. Another mod complete!

Broken and scratched tailgate, cracked rear tail light lens, coffee stain in driver seat.
Here at TW we only condone good health and frequent oil changes, ashtrays lure us into dark seedy bars with loose women... I'll drive. :D

    Indeed,
It’s like having a little devil in the cab. If I slip in anyway I’ll be sure to make a post to alert everyone of the dangers.

$17.20 plus shipping from the Toyota Parts Store. The quality is very high as you’d expect from a Toyota part.
