Does anyone know if the tires from Sam's are the same tire you can get from a Goodyear dealer? The Goodyear Duratracs are significantly cheaper at Sam's. Like $250 cheaper.

Is the load rating the same on the tires you are comparing? I guess just make sure all the specs are exactly the same, don't see why they would be different tires unless they are retreads... I would imagine SAMs has pretty solid prices on tires, though...like everything else in that store!

The only difference I could find is Duratracs come in 6 ply and 10 ply. Called Goodyear and Sams and asked for a estimate on the 6 plys and Sams was right at $250 cheaper.

Check with your local dealer on price matching. A few years ago I asked local guy about matching Sams on Michelin tires. They matched and also had free balance/rotation for life of tire just like Sams. The big difference is that Sams is a PITA as there are no appointments for work

False, they are Duratracs, otherwise they would NOT use the name "Authority" in its description. Goodyear does make that Authority for Walmart stores. Sam's Clubs (which is a part of the Walmart company) do NOT carry this tire. I know---I tried to get my Sam's Club to get them for me. They would NOT. The OP specifically asked if the Duratracs at Sam's Club were the same.

Wonder if it varies by location. My local Sams said they didn't have them in stock but could order them.

That price probably does not include tax, mounting and other fees. The $960 quote was probably an out the door price. I'm betting the actual cost is a lot closer.

I think you meant "Duratrac". These goodyear authority tires look like duratracs, but they are not. They are cheaper than the duratac too. Just be sure you get the real deal.

You are right, I meant Duratrac, and that's why I wrote it. Let's review what is going on in this thread:

    1. OP (Stags863) opened a thread titled "Goodyear Duratracs on Feb 9th, @ 1:52 PM. He asked if the Goodyear Duratracs at Sam's Club were the same ones that any consumer can purchase at various Goodyear Tire dealers.

    2. A few TW forum members responded with comments regarding tire sizes, plies, and prices.

    3. At exactly 4:22 PM the same day (in post #13), TW member speedydave wrote that
"They are not duratracs. They are a private label goodyear made for walmart/sams." This comment implies that the "Duratracs" at Sam's Club and/or WalMart are not original equipment Duratracs from Goodyear. Speedydave is partially correct in his posting, as Goodyear DOES manufacture a tire that CLOSELY resembles the Duratrac, but is in-fact a tire made solely for the WalMart Corporation. Many companies sign these type of agreements with WalMart for 1000s of products---it is way for both WalMart and that company to make money. Where speedydave is incorrect is in stating that they (meaning the Duratracs at Sam's Club) are NOT the same "Duratracs" made by Goodyear. This is where the confusion began.

    4. Later in post #14, this author advised speedydave that the Duratracs at Sam's Clubs were in fact..... Goodyear Duratracs. I said that because you CAN purchase Goodyear Duratracs at Sam's Club. Here's a quick link:
    http://www.samsclub.com/sams/265-65r17112s-durtrc/prod13720531.ip?navAction=

*You cannot use the Sam's Club website to order, or view the GoodYear Wrangler "Authority" tire that closely resembles the Duratrac. You MIGHT be able to walk into your local Sam's Club and talk the tire department into ordering you a set, but I was told by mine that I could NOT.

*On the corporate WalMart website, here's the Goodyear Wrangler Authority:
    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Goodyear-Wrangler-Authority-Tire-LT265-70R17/11983163

You can see the similarities between those two Goodyear products for yourself, but the fact remains that the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs sold at Sam's Club location are in fact..... wait for it............ Duratracs.

The OP's (Stags863) original question asked if the "Duratracs" at Sam's Club were in fact...... real Duratracs. They are, end of story.

Nobody from WalMart Corporate, Sam's Clubs, or TW is claiming that their Goodyear "Authority" is a "Duratrac", so please don't infer that to be the case like speedydave did in post #17.

Anyone heard anything about the Goodyear Authority? Seem like a good tire, and a great price...

Check the tire forum. There's an entire thread on Authorities. Looked upon with great favor by those who own 'em.
