Again, neaux. The cap actually needs to go forward about 1/4 inch as it is, so that would be counterproductive.

Nah, that is not accurate for the high end shells. They all have curved glass which is why we can't use these tailgat caps until someone makes one that matches the curve of the tailgate.

Well it's accurate for Leer XQ, which is as high end as they go for Leer. The bottom edge is straight. I know there are other brands for other trucks out there that use curved plastic bottom edges, but this is not one of them.

Sorry I sounded confused , my post was because of my concern with the tailgate cap, when it was mentioned that aftermarket bed rails might be a solution it seemed like a great idea until I thought about and then read your post. I will leave all as it is now and see what it looks like when the 100XR comes in.

Once again sorry for the conflicting posts

Sorry my verbiage was bad, " all " is not accurate.

IE: The 2nd gen Snugtop models with frameless glass back windows, it perfectly matches the curve of the tailgate. I know I've seen other brands the same way too and there has been discussion about this topic many times before in regard to the tailgate caps....trust me I wish it were not an issue I need a new tailgate cap badly, my OE one is 10 yrs old and completely ragged out. Looks like it will be definitely be an issue with the 3rd gems...that tailgate is like this ) no way a camper window could be straight against that.

My tailgate cap matches the curve of the tailgate... But it does not have the added lip like KB and Relentless. To curve the added lip would suck in a manufacturing sense. It would either need to be a completely stamped peice which requires a HUUUUGE press and expensive tooling or it would have to be welded on which is time consuming. The straight lip is a simple press brake operation that any shop with a small press brake and standard tooling can do.

I have a leer on the way, and reinforcement, this is how the bottom of the shell window looks, it's a little different than some of the examples shown here, anyone with experience regarding this shape?

@scocar , this is a leer, maybe this could be your solution? It looks like this model cap itself is set back too, so maybe with your flush one, you could order this part to make an offset?

Won't work on a fameless door, and my issue is not a curve. Everything with straight with the tailgate cap on. I just need to find the perfect piece of Z-shaped EPDM that I can stick on the inside of the glass door's bottom edge.

That said, I have not really had any leak issues with the way it is now, once I fixed some other seals around the lower corners and reapplied the entire main bulb seal.

Come help me with mine. :pout:

Leaks like crazy, same places as it did before I had them replace the deal - and I had them double up the bulb seal.
