    I suggest:

    1. I'll meet Mitch and anyone else on this end at the Tim's on Windmill.

    2. We roll together over to the Tim's at the far end of Barrington, by Inglis, to meet Ben and anyone else from the other side of the harbour.

    3. I start to get sleepy and head back to Dartmouth shortly after (what's my excuse... work night?) and can lead anyone who might not want to get lost downtown.

As a foreigner from NB I can honestly say I dislike Halifax. How many times have I driven under one of those damn bridges thinking dammit I need to be UP on that not driving under it....lol

On the plus side we usually stay at the Barrington and it is always nice.

Just got back from a hike! Was a beautiful night, and I got to use my new hatchet so that's a win.

    Good axes are amazingly useful.

Halifax isn't bad when there's no one on the road and you can drive over curbs whenever you please because you can't see them

I just used it to clear a fallen tree in the trail, bought a Fiskars hatchet. I love knives, don't know much about axes. Just went for something inexpensive and made in Scandinavia (pretty much how I buy knives as well...). We went up by grand lake in Oakfield Park, off the normal paths there is a pretty decent loop right on the lake.

Mora knives are my favourite. After I got one I forgot about all my other, expensive knives.

I have an axe by gransfors bruks, it is very fine!

I actually ordered a Mora companion on Amazon on Sunday before we met up. I couldn't find a carbon steel one locally so I bought it online. I've had a few expensive kitchen knives and a few lock blade style knives of decent quality (Eka if I remember was one of them) so I'm new to the whole non folding knife thing.

I really like the Werterlings and the Gransfors axes but I can't justify it for something to beat down trees with in the woods. I also like the complete lack of care a composite handle of the Fiskars has. I actually told mitch they were in sale and he picked one up two.

I may have had a carbon steel Mora Companion in the truck last night... it's my favourite.

I love carbon steel knives. So much better to sharpen and I like the look ot the patina they gain over time. I plan on finishing the spine to be able to spark a fire steel as well. Also duncan what's your opinion on a good folding saw? I used a Silky Gomboy last night and it was fantastic but I'm not trying to spend 70 bucks on something I'll rarely use.

I love a nice lock blade. When wandering Maine we always end up at LL Bean in Freeport and Kittery Trading Post and the wife always knows where to find me....lol . Spyderco is probably my fave. Not overly expensive but never let me down. That being said I have a Buck Whittaker on my keychain that has been a life saver on so many occasions. Buddy of mine's father told me once that there is only one thing handier than a pocket knife.... And that is the pocket you keep it in.

That's a diffrent looking blade! I'd probably opt for a little Victornox of some variety or even an Openel but if it works it works!

Students always give me a hard time saying I have a knife in school... I tell them it is a pencil sharpener. They argue. Then I ask them if they have ever seen me do anything but sharpen pencils with it? That stumps them for a few seconds....Just long enough to put a point on their pencil and direct them to their desk....lol... Always make them think.
