The last time I was out there, again, followed my friend out there I brought a 2.5 Gal, I believe that's what it is? Anyways, I used it all up. It's up to you, but I would for JIC purposes!

This is how I remember it as well. There is quite a big gas station near the "sea of the dead" (a.k.a. Salton Sea... Tacomas go down to the dead and light little candles of their own). That is where my friend fueled up.

    Happy Wheel'n people

BTW, if you can spare the "room" in your truck bed... I ADVISE to bring, at the very least, tap water in a 5 Gal can of some sorts!!! Especially if you are going to be camping, eating, and such. Just food for thought ;)

The closest gas station from fish creek is about an 45 min to hour drive depending on how you drive. You can get there, but it isn't convenient.

    INFO FROM @bjs045
Also, AB is the only national park in CA that you can still free camp (in designature areas). There are reserved camp locations too. Which have shitters and showers. Reserve America website should have what's available.

#1 rule is leave no trace.

#2 you have to bring a fire pit in. You CANNOT dig a pit. We took an old stainless steel washer drum. From the size of this group you may need 2. I bought a mix of Pine and Eucalyptus from South Bay Firewood on Rosecrans in Hawthorne. Bring a shit load 3/4 of my short bed was just wood.

I have a link below with directions from McDonald's at Weir Canyon Road to Fish Creek Primitive Campground (restroom).

From here we'll need to drive in and locate a decent camp location and probably air down a bit. If the same spot is open from my trip in Dec. that will be great. Could literally fit unlimited trucks. Hope this is a bit more informative.

We played it safe and before and after going to TruckHaven trail getting gas near the Salton Sea. Pictured below as well as the distance from Fish Creek Primitive Campsite.

There are also 3 gas stations in Borrego Springs.

These are good questions and answers. I like the input. You guys are great. And YES bring water!!

So on my last trip we had the luxury of a gas station on the way to the trail. Which brings up the question for Corey. Have we decided on which trail(s) to do?

I didn't really decide since I have no idea. I know a hand full of guys are just 2x2 so trails that are maybe easy, then throw in a good 4x4 trail

Here is a Google map that I zoomed in on and annotated. There is also a map that I found that generally shows some of the trails just east of the primitive camp site, well, maybe about 1hr east, but anyways. The Pumpkin Patch is a pretty cool place to go see for people that have never been to it! It was for me! That's just me. The video generally shows what to expect for the washes and some of the dunes/hills.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4a4QFfGVlU

Regarding Fish Creek Wash, very nice scenery back up in that area. Again, 4yrs or so ago, I wasn't the one driving (it was my friends PreRunner), it was my first time offroading (he invited me... I didn't really know where the hell he was taking me, LOL), and it was a BLAST!!! Yes, there were spots where he had to engage his "locker". I don't know, I had a very good time and other people may have differing opinions :notsure:. I don't think anyone will be disappointed though.

Please, if you want, see the maps to give you a general idea.

Also, for those that are NOT familiar with the road(s) in that area going to/from Anza Borrego, please read the link/post that I made

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/orange-county-meetups.217178/page-563#post-11755144

    Hope this helps.

    Happy Wheel'n people

It's a guide of the state park. Not exactly an off-road trail guide, but I'm not going on this trip exclusively to drive around in the desert. There's a bunch of areas to explore in AB and this book goes over a bunch of them in great detail plus give an overview or roads and trails to help navigate the area. I'd like to take in as much of it as I can while I'm out there.

It was definitely stock suspension because we had talked about what he was possibly planning on doing to his truck and it wasn't very much at all, if anything but the tires. I don't remember what tires he put on? Anyways, I believe it is an '09 Tacoma.

You F'N "wedding crasher" or "funeral crasher" (i.e. one in the same I guess)?:rofl::rofl::cheers: That is some funny shi_ right thar!!! Hoping to see you and the rest of you guys.
