Made the deal on my 2016 Tacoma Sport. Here's the details / pricing

Well after MUCH internet shopping, visiting the dealerships, AND enduring all of the buzzards that swarm on you as soon as you walk onto the lot, I made the deal today. Here are the specs:

2016 Tacoma Sport, 5' bed, double cab, 4X2, Barcellona Red
Tow package
Running boards
Pin striping
Window tinting (needed in Florida)
Floor mats
$33,000 OTD

The dealer (like most) added a lot to the vehicle (such as running boards window tinting & pin stripping) then upped the MSRP to $35,344 and had a dealer fee of $834. All was negotiable after so much back & forth. The discount from MSRP was $3885 but I figured out the real discount from the manufacturer's MSRP was $2,690.

I also paid $33500 out the door for a 2WD Sport with Premium Tech and JBL, Tint, Towing, Toyotacare. Pinstripping (removed) One year ding and key fob protection.

I put my own Nerf bars on as I wanted 6' for $300.

 

What was the pre-tax and pre-DMV fee total??

Taxes and fees vary from state to state.

 

HA that's the way I feel about any of these trucks over $35K and especially $40K....I cannot wrap my head around a $40,000 Tacoma. Then again I had an email offer for a 4x4 Limited out the door for $36665. I didn't want the 4x4. Not needed here.

Seems high to me for a non 4x4 but maybe the 2016s jumped up in price. When I was buying I got my 2013 brand new for less than that and it was the offroad, 4x4, fully loaded. I would have expected 2 wheel drives to be down in the 25-26k range. My dad got his 2nd gen 2 wheel drive sport fully loaded for about 26.5 OTD.

 

You guys can't compare prices without looking at taxes. They are huge in some places and small in others.

 

I didn't realize how much more the 3rd gens were MSRP than the 2nd Gens

 

In states that 4x4 demands a premium, yes that seems high. In Michigan I wouldn't pay that much unless it was a 4x4. In states like FL, maybe that's more normal.

I done a search on cars.com the lowest $30,995 - highest $40,364

 

Congrats!! I live in Seattle, bought my truck in Bellevue, everything in the Seattle area seems expensive. Cost me 41K OTD, for a 4x4 sport, I'm sure in other places it's cheaper! Our tax is 9%

 

Is it me or is the hood scoop missing on that sport?

 

Appears that way to me, also TRD Sport bed decals apparent different than I have seen.

Welcome. I paid 36K for 4x4 with Tech Package for OR in Denver Colorado. FL must have high demand for Tacomas if the dealer did marketing adjustment (bs) inflation. Is yours SR5 version? The bed decal and hood scoop seems odd in a sport model that I have seen.
