Can any of you who have gotten the stripping replaced send/post some before and after pics. I'm trying to convince my dealership that it should be covered under warranty

No pics, but all they need to do is look at some new truck on the lot. Tell them the seals are holding water as well. They should step up and replace them. If not go to another dealer. Gotta be a couple in Albuquerque.

Toyota tried to blame my after market window tint for the weather seal bowing out and in turn voiding any warranty work on it. This was all over the phone so when I arrived I showed the lead tech this thread and we even went outside and looked at the trucks on their lot and found multiple weather seals bowing out. So they went back on their first thought as to why it was bowing out.

So if this happens have this page ready to show them and also check their lot for the same thing.

I have the same problem. I went to the dealer and said they will order the part for me. That was last week. Still waiting for their call. I have stock tint though.

My dealer lead tech said there is no real fix yet. So all they can do is throw seals at it with no garuntee that it will fix the bowing. He advised me to wait a little bit in hopes there is a fix seal that comes out.

Came back from my dealer today after work, said they would overnight a new pair of seals for me. I checked the new SR5 Tacomas in their parking lot. All the seals sat flat/flush against the door.
The dealer is gonna have them overnight'd to be installed tomorrow. Hoping a pair of new seals does the trick.

took my truck in tonight for the rear window seals and license plate light holding water. They ordered the license plate part no questions asked, however, the rear window seals, they told me that they weren't going to do anything since they are new and replacing them wouldn't fix anything. I had to fight with the service tech and explain to him that every Tacoma I looked at on their lot the seals sat flush. He wouldn't budge so I asked to speak with his manager which was the service director, I explained my situation and he immediately told the tech to order new seals. I wasn't leaving that dealership without new seals. You may have to fight a little but eventually they'll cave and fix what should have been right from the factory.

Yep Got mine today and the replacement was worse than the original LOL.. I didn't say anything its just not that important to me to fight with the dealer. I put abead of silicone adhesive behind them put the the AVS channel vents back in and drove off into the sun set. Works Very Well and keeps water out of there.

It's a shame we have to diagnose and fix our own trucks. But there are too many times when we cannot count on the dealer or Mother Toyota for fixes.

I got my seals replaced yesterday, its not a tight fit by any means (nto when compared to my Gen 2 seals) but at least the window seal isnt bowed past the lip of the door frame its supposed to sit flush under.

My rear driver's side was not flush, dealership ordered molding and fixed it with no bickering. Sets flush now, like it should.

Put a bead of silicone adhesive in there.....Done. It is reversible and keeps the water out.

I'm kinda surprised that the dealership didn't do that when they replaced the seals themselves. My new seals are definitely better than what came on it.
What silicon sealant did you use that won't permanently bond with the door or seal Bella??

I should have been clearer. I used

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BKEBO0/ref=pd_luc_rh_bxgy_01_04_t_img_lh?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-80050-Silicone-Adhesive-Sealant/dp/B0002UEPVI

But I am sure 3M double sided tape and double sided silicone tapes would work as well. I am not worried about a permanent bond. In fact that's what I want. I won't have the truck long enough to worry about replacing those seals again. I don't think many long term truck owners have replaced them.

I am thinking the dealer may have replaced the rear door seal instead. LOL

That's true, my gen 2 is going on 10 years old. The seals have never given me any issues.

After dropping a bed of silicone in all of the seals I feel embarrassed to have taken the truck in for that issue. I should have done that in the first place.

Dealers fix was not a fix LOL

Went to the dealership to document the unintiated trip Ave MPG reset.

Also reporter his molding issue as it has now come off of the hard plastic that holds the two piece. They ordered replacement under warranty, should arrive/installed this week.

    I'm thinking of using silicone...
