I wonder if 3rd Gen Mirrors would work on our trucks, I haven't seen any up close yet.

And I've seen them next to my truck and look like they might fit...but I would need to see one apart before comfirming

Wait, 3rd gen side mirrors have integrated puddle lamps in them now

I don't think it'll work, looking at it, it's a different design from the 2nd gen.

Thanks, so you had rock autos? It's just so much money to spend just to get puddle lights.

I bought the 4Runner mirror via eBay from AM-autoparts for 119.69. They mounted perfectly to the OEM mirror arm. Removing the outer cover wasn't easy but I did get both off and have painted a first coat.

These were OEM mirrors? I am seeing a lot of aftermarket (TYC is pretty common) but nothing about OEM replacement. How are you going to wire them up?

Not OEM. You have to use the Tacoma mount arm and swap the mirror housing to it. I have the ProFX towing mirror (looks like a Dodge Ram mirror that rotates up 90*) so I'll use that wiring

But I bet the 4Runner OEM mirror would work but it was more expensive

They look good! I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on them after you have driven around a bit... Any vibrations etc. The OEM option is pretty expensive.

Well so far I'm pleased. I bought these on eBay from am-autoparts. I had the Pro-FX towing mirrors previously so I already had the turn signal and heat circuits to the door just needed to add the dome light circuit to power the puddle lights.

This mirror is the 4Runner mirror and all that I needed to do was use the OEM Tacoma mirror arm and attach the 4Runner mirror to it. The rotating plate was an exact match to the Tacoma mirror.

The hardest part for me was painting. The 4Runner mirror had shining black finish instead of matte. I removed the covers and used rattle can duplicolor super white paint. Probably did 7 coats. Had to wet sand a few times where I had over sprayed and the paint ran. Paint isn't perfect but it's not obvious unless you look closely.

There is no shake or vibration that I've noticed when driving.

When the heat is on, seems warmer towards the outer edge than closer to the truck.

It would be cheaper to buy one directly from Wolsten Tech. Unfortunately even small items from Canada to the US are $15 tracked service. If you want though I can PM you the exact specs I have them built to, or a TDR-MC works just fine if it is for a heated mirror set up.

Sounds good. With the mirrors you bought do they supply the mating connector to click together with the connector that comes out of the mirrors?
